Retro PiNuPs from Leica M8 ~ FINALLY!

Hi Tom,

I own several Armato type bare bulb strobes that I use on light stands and/or a Stroboframe flip 35 bracket.
Any strobe repair shop can modify almost any flash unit (Vivitar, Metz ...) to bare bulb with a Lumedyne 4-pin ham radio tube socket, some black Lexan and a clamp.

I never bolt my flash units directly to my Leicas, I always use a wireless transmitter or a Wein Safe Sync SSH.

Regards,
Robert

That is really nice, did you think of that?

Hi,

No, I think it all started with the old Graphic 250 Globe Strobe, followed by Armato's LR100, LH200/300 (modified Vivitar 283) and its various incarnations (Gertech, NVS-1, protech pro 100-200) + Leonardo Medina's bare bulb Metz.

There is an excelent book on the subject titled:

Adventures in Location Lighting
by Jon Falk
Eastman Kodak , 1983

You could probably borrow it through interlibrary loan (ILL)

Regards,
Robert

I'm surprised that no one has said anything about my "new" model? :(

She was a real trooper, was very professional and has that fun *girl next door* look, she's going to have her hair all done up in a boffant next time I see her, we were only doing a test shoot this time, so she let her hair out. :)

We were running around downtown Winter Haven like 8:30pm so it was pretty early still and lots of traffic, but we found a place off the beaten path and shot for about 45mins, about 150 or so shots, all mostly black and white with flash, I left the really fast lenses home and just used the f1.5/35 Canon, it was pretty much, set and forget, shot everything at f5.6 with a subdued flash, I find using a 35 on the M8 is a piece of cake, don't have to mess around trying to frame stuff all the time.

AnnaMaria can really can fill out a vintage pair of stockings and she really liked wearing the old stuff, seems that many young girls don't appreciate vintage clothes or lingerie, but she liked shooting this style right away, we had lots of fun and it was good to have the camera back in my hands again after such a long unwanted break.
(as most of my closer friends here at RFF have known that due to some health issues last year, I haven't been shooting on a regular basis, this shoot was the first I've had in many many months.)

I'm very glad I have another great PinUp model now ready to shoot more work and content for my upcoming website. :)

Enjoy!

Tom

I think she's gorgeous!

This is one of my favourite threads.

Thanks Greg!

I'll have more from her up shortly, she's a professional fetish model, specializing mostly in Bondage (Japanese Suspension) and art nudes.

I was the first Florida Photographer who offered to shoot Retro/Vintage Lingerie work with her and she really had fun, liked doing it and she has promised to work in more of my vintage stocking fetish projects, so I will search out some old cars for props and we'll be shooting quite a few backseats in the next few months or so. :)

Thanks agian and Enjoy!

Tom

Yes Tom, she looks like she's having fun and completely at ease.

Lingerie, legs and stockings are my favourite subject to shoot, but I only have one model and just shoot for fun.

Thanks for posting.

What a great thread! Thanks so much for the inspiration. I have a 1953 Jupiter 3 uncoated 50mm sonnar that will be perfectly suited for these types of shots. What fun!

I used to have a Canon 50/1.2 ltm on an M8 and found it to be a really nice combination for portraits.

I haven't been very active here at RFF lately, while my Father and I have had some serious Health problems (I am his full time caregiver at home) while last weekend he had congestive heart failure and some infections, he is recovering at a rehabilitation center and doing much better. :) - (he will be 90 years young at the end of June and for those who know him, he has the mind of a 55 year old, he's bright and very active, just he cannot walk from a car accident he had in the 1970's).

And recently I was diagnosed with type II diabetes, which has left me somewhat depressed along with all the other things going on with my Father, it has been a real "eye opener" and I'm trying to change my eating habits and lose some weight and become more active, also trying to keep a positive attitude. :/

I haven't done much in Photography lately, but some of my close friends here know that a few months ago I bought a very low mileage, all original 1957 Volkswagen Oval Window Beetle named "Blauchen" (it means small and blue in German) and I plan on using it as a rolling "PiNuP" photo studio. :D

Here's two photos from last month, before I cleaned off the Rust-Oleum brush paint that the PO's Mother put on the car in the 1970's and some surface rust on the passenger side fender............the shot was done with my M8 and that trusty 1957 era LTM Nikon HC f2/50 lens, shot @ f2, about 4pm in Florida Sunshine. (with no photoshop needed)

I still don't have the car on the road yet, it won't be until late summer that I do, still have to wire up a third brake light, buy some rebuilt semaphore turn signals new tires, after that I'll be shooting some more pretty girls inside and out of the car in the traditional 1950's way. ;)

I really miss my Photography it's been so long since I've done something creative, sadly I have learned that without your health you cannot enjoy anything, I'm just taking it all one step at a time and also saying a prayer for my Father every night, hoping that he pulls through this setback in his life.

Tom

Here's wishing both you and your father well, Tom.

I've missed your posts. So much so that I been looking for some activity from you around the web the last couple of nights and here you pop up!

That v-dub looks a beauty.:)
