Ok, just got my UN dome hood and found out you have to REVERSE mount the UV filter for it to fit INSIDE the hood.
I have a B+W MRC (multi-coated) UV-haze filter. Just wondering if there are any issues mounting it on backwards as the MRC coating is probably only applied on the front side and its now pointing back into the lens rather than outwards towards the light in which it was intended. So will it still be effective in eliminating haze and flare prevention?
Also for cleaning the filter I'd be cleaning the back of it where the front is multi-coated and supposed to be better for cleaning off dirt & fingerprints. Unless these filters are treated for both sides I'm wondering if cleaning the back of it over a period of time is something to be concerned about as the back is probably not hard coated.
With Circular polarizers they will not work on backwards, but wondered if this applied to UV filters - or does this not matter as it will still filter out flare and haze even though its mounted on backwards?
Your thoughts/advice on this appreciated
