Hi all
My rewind crank is bent on my M6 and turns like an out of true wheel.
I'd need one the only one I saw on EB was $100
ANyone knows where I could get a black crank?
Mine is functionnal, it just does not run smoothly from the outside.
Thanks

Quick bump - I've got the same issue.
My M6TTL took a fall over the weekend - strap just slipped off my shoulder. Not a very large fall and it seems the rewind knob took the brunt of it.
The metal on the knob around the lever pin was sufficiently bent out of shape that the lever couldn't close down and the knob couldn't be rotated through a full turn without scraping the body so I couldn't advance the film.
I adjusted it back into shape with some pliers and filed off a little metal (and a lot of paint) when I got home. It does turn fully now but I'd like to replace it with something a bit more solid (I see the point of the rewind knob on the M3 and the earlier bodies now) so I don't have to deal with it again.
The plastic guard near the strap lug on the same side as the rewind lever seems to have broken off but I imagine people just tape that over. The RF is still in alignment thankfully - seems I just knocked it from an EX to a "well-loved user" ;-)
Suggestions on where to get a replacement rewind knob?
Cheers,

According to a Leica rep I talked to the rewind knob always takes the brunt of the fall. The cameras are designed to land there it would seem.

I want to get a black rewind crank purely for aesthetic purposes and can't seem to find one cheaply either. I don't think theres any way out of paying the $100 or so for one.

Why do some people have such an obsession with color of a crank? They both wind film and they both can get bent. A piece of tape makes a good strap guard to begin with, cheap and easy to replace also.

I have bent one before and it was about $100 for a new one. Did I hear that DAG has stronger ones that will fit an M camera? Pehaps off an early Leicaflex? Joe
