RF BOOK-Project

It was you Oscar ( the member that is), and I almost sniped it from you (not knowing it was you). I saw the post right away with less then 2 minutes to go in the auction, then my dogs demanded my attention, and you won the P.

Wheew, thanks then to you and also to your dogs Rover ! ^_^" Could I send you some puppy cookies or something ?

Joe, I use to search the bay for useful combinations such as 'canon leica' 'nikon leica' 'nikkor leica' 'canon screwmount' 'leica screw' 'serenar' and so on, there are always items with incomplete descriptions that oth fit those sentences.

RFF Book project status reminder

RFF Book project status reminder

1) THE COVER
Cover #10 won the vote and Nick is finishing up the final printeable
version of it. Thanks Nick!

Things left to complete:
(As always I MAY have received the information from you but it got
lost in emails - if so I apologize and simply remind me with the
information/photo as soon as possible). Thanks!

2) FULL NAME AND COUNTRY
I still don't have confirmed full name and country (how you want it to
appear in the book) from:

1) Todd Hanz
2) ZeissZan

Please get back to me on this as soon as possible.

[And damn - another, smaller quake right now, unusual]

3) CAMERA PHOTOS
I need a 300dpi, 6x4 proportions, 1.5-2 inch on the longest side photo
(1 or 2) of your range finder camera(s) from the following people:

1) Todd Hanz
2) ZeissFan
3) DigitalOx (I could have sworn I had your photo...)

4) BIO
See here for the already posted bios that I have at this point for
ideas how to write
your own: http://www.pbase.com/rsilfverberg/image/33847381

I need BIO's from the following FIVE people:
1) Rich Silfver (oopss...)
2) Todd Hanz
3) Wayne Scott
4) ZeissFan
5) AndColor

5) TWO PHOTOS FOR THE BOOK + TEXTS

I need TWO photos for the book + complete Text (incl tech info).

See examples here: http://www.pbase.com/rsilfverberg/photos_rf (texts
are posted in the comments section under each photo if you want to see
for ideas how to write your own).

I need the following people to complete the submission of TWO photos and TEXT:

1) Rich Silfver (oopss...)
2) The jazzguy
3) Digitalox (I just need FILM information per photo)
4) Todd Hanz
5) Wayne Scott
6) ZeissFan
7) AndColor (I just need FILM information per photo)

So as you can see a lot of progress from the last status email - the
lists are much shorter :)

The missing camera photos ARE holding up the back cover design though
so PLEASE try to have them to me as soon as possible.

Here's what we can do while we're waiting to hear from Richard:

1. If you are one of the five photographers not shown on Richard's RFF book site, you can email your photo, commentary on the photo, full name and country, and bio to me so I can finish the interior layout.

2. If you have missing info, please do likewise and I'll add it to your existing layout pages.

Send them to:

cdnphoto AT gmail.com

Gene

A bit of cut+paste to refresh things...

Seems as though Richard himself is one of the people with work (pictures, texts, and bio) still to be submitted. What should be done about that? Perhaps someone who had a close relationship with him could PM him through this site and through photonet, with all our sincere apologies if any of us said or did anything to offend, and to explain the RF book going ahead with a dedcation to him, and an invitation to still be art of it, at least in submitting work.

Thats a good idea Frank. Seeing that he has been active on-line, and for some reason has choosen not to participate here eliminates some issues that have been holding up up Its been months now, and things should move on.

Someone should append the forward to credit Rich for all his hard work and effort, along with the credits for Jorge.

We should set another deadline for submissions, and wrap up the book at that point with whatever photos we have at that time. We have alternates, and we can go with fewer photogaphers if need be.

As long as we send Rich updates on whats happening here and on Photo.Net, it will be his choice to participate or not. We know he's online,
so we can assume its a personal choice why he hasn't visited here for whatever reason. I truely hope he does decide to participate, or at the very least communicate with us and bless going forward.

it's been done, by a couple of us and he has not responded to anyone, as far as i know.

rich has been here, i have seen his name listed in the who's here section on the main page. he has access to this post and i can only assume he has his reasons for not talking to us.

as for the book, we need someone to step up and take the lead or i fear the project will wither away to the land of lost good ideas.

joe

I agree with Joe, Rich has been around here but has his own reasons for not participating.

We could have the next backup begin preparations. If Rich sees this post within say the next 24-48 hours and responds we'll go ahead with him, otherwise the backup takes that spot.

What thinks ye?

Todd, jazzguy, wayne, zeiss, are y'all getting close with those photos?

I sent my film info and pics of my camera, so I'm not sure if they got lost in the shuffle or the cut&paste above is a little out of date.

If we can hold on until January I can take over as coordinator if we don't hear from Rich by then, but if y'all want to do something sooner than that I'll pass along the Pagemaker files to someone else to finish off. My December is booked.

Gene

I think that you are the only one with access to the sight so I will send my stuff to you, I think it would be a good project for a January finish or early Feb.
I'll be able to do more after next week, I've got finals on the 15th.
Let's wrap it up!

Todd

I'm fine with a December or January finish. I really want to be able to bring (or have send) a copy to my brother-in-law in Mongolia. I'll go there in early February to celebrate Tsagaan Sar (Mongolian New Year) and I want to give him a copy as a present.

i would be most happy if gene took over the reins of the project. he has experience with publishing and writing.

gene, you have my support.

a january project is fine too. maybe a valentines gift will come of it or a spring present for some.
the timing is not the issue but having something come of the effort already invested would be most gratifing.

many thanks gene,
joe

Thanks Todd. I don't have any access to the Rich's site except for viewing, like everyone else on the project. However, I have a pbase account where I can re-create the site if needed. I'll need to create a new RFF account with lulu.com as well if Rich doesn't return.

Anyone with stuff owed or sent to Rich that's not on the current RFF site, would you mind sending me your photos and bios so I can finish the internal layout?

Send to cdnphoto AT gmail.com

Cheers,
Gene

Cool, thanks Gene! I'll be leaving town end of next week and won't return until january, so jan. works for me. By Febuary would be great!

If I can do anything to help let me know. I have 0 publishing skills, but I'm a programmer and pretty handy with the computer should any scripts or such be needed.

Count me in also to help out with whatever I can. Just let me know what I can do.

Welcome fiftymillimeter,
Nice moniker, do you shoot a Barrett?

There is a waiting list for a second book too, if this first one gets off the ground ~ ; - )

no, a nokton. though i would accept cron or lux donations.

and i'd definitely be down for the next book. though i don't know how much my work fits the 'rangefinder style'.
