M8 + J-3 @ f/1.5

That is THE ONE J-3 that I regret selling! It is pick of the litter of about 50 J-3's that I have shot with. I've never seen another Green coating like it on a J-3, and suspect it was optimized for Infrared. We have some old Optics in the Lab designed for Helium-Neon LASERS with the same color coating. The '53 J-3 might be "as Good". The 53 J-3 is certainly as good as my mint-glass wartime Sonnar in LTM.

BUT I am always glad when one of my lenses makes it into the hands of someone that really uses them. I do believe that the Image is what really counts in a photograph. The equipment should not stand in the way of producing the image that the operator wants. Whether it's for the Family album, an Art gallery, Photography forum, or radiometric analysis.

Valdemar died but was kept alive by a cruel mesmerist (hypnotist, to you) for several months.

Finally, being wakened from the trance by the mesmeric passes, he devolved into a fetid puddle of loathsome putrescence.

A well-deserved fate, in my opinion. I can't stand these self-righteous types who think they know everything. Arrogant, rude, we don't need them on RFF.

What happened to harmony, tolerance, and good-will towards they neighbors?

It's disgusting the way some people insult newbies, and pretend that they know everything. Valdemar even disrupted serious threads with unfunny attempts at witticisms. Pearls before swine, some said, but what did they know? Intelligence should never take precedence over political correctness and good manners.

Valdemar is gone, and good riddance. May he rot in a unpleasant place.

You mean that he risks being blinded by the gods for revealing their secrets? Or risks being transformed into a woman for 7 years for striking a pair of copulating reptiles? Or maybe transformed into M.Valdemar. What happened to that guy anyway?

Thanks M.Valdemar, or Oscar Levant, or whatever you're calling yourself this month. I don't know the specific reason you're in the internet equivalent of Witness Protection Program, but I can imagine a few.

Oh yeah, and thanks for translating mesmerist for us rubes. Those of us who are not "former magazine editors" appreciate your patronage and condescension.

Listen, I feel bad for you rubes and flyovers, I really do. It's sad for you when you can't all be me, but I sincerely hope the best for you, and that you can squeak by the best you can.

Do you have any idea what I'm talking about, because I sure don't.

>>>"There is an ongoing recent thread, called internet forums vs. creativity & improvement, somehow trying to defend RFF right for free gear speech, and perhaps the USA constitution, so to speak...."

Ruben,
Don't you think your original post belonged in that thread? Why open a parallel thread trying to cover the very same issues. your thoughts belonged in that thread, so all the hijacking/hooliganism/ and surrealism is understanable to an extent, don't you think?

No Rondo,

It is not up to me to explain myself, since my substantiated opinions have been given in full detail, nor is upon to RFF to apologize before anyone for being a great site, nor any member should feel inferior when the word "art" is mentioned.

But Mr Pappy, Mr Pablito and Mr Gabriel - they do owe an explanation how they happened to sandwich themselves in between the disruptive company of Mr N-master.... and Mr Valdemar, who like Valdemar every time, couldn't with himself, and had to reveal his identity.

Being an amateur, a lover of photography, is a privilege. Being a member of RFF is a precious crown, and a creation to be taken care for.

Brian,
At the some point of this thread you pointed at me as inviting ridiculization, only to end alongside Fred, Valdemar & Co. This has been a surprise, perhaps not just for me.

Being this the case let me tell you clear and loudly, RFF is not just "a forum among a myriad of forums". You are belliteling what we are as a group, what Stephen has inputed, the expertize and kindness of our Coffee guys and you yourself. Self disrespect is a blind alley no lens cleaning will ever save you from, but only objective self appreciation.

My opinions have been given. They are certainly arguible like anything else. The stand and behaviour of others remains recorded too.

Cheers,
Ruben

And btw,
We certainly have excelling photographers enrolled as RFF members and from time to time excelling photographers do visit us for a while.

As my daughter would say, "Why do you have to be so DRAMATIC all the time!"

You'd swear that I was the only Father to announce "WARNING: DOUBLE-A RED ALERT EMERGENCY! Ice Cream Cone has LOST STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY! ROTATE 180 Degrees and LICK before it gets on you shirt!" at the Dairy Queen.

That's about the equivalent of this thread. It promotes and accentuates disagreements on RFF. If anything, it's proven that threads here can run amuck and out of control. If the Forum is so great, we do not need to proclaim it from the highest mountain. People will find it on their own and value it for useful information given and quality images presented. It simply does not need a Sermon or whatever else this thread is.

At least I put up some images combined with talking about gear and fast cars.
