RFF EuroMeet, Florence, April 10-11 2010

Four of us will probably be staying here: http://www.hotelcentroflorence.com/ on Friday and Saturday night. It seems central and cheap (if you book online).

Thursday night will be Lucca and Sunday night ... not sure.

EDIT: I need to check the location of that hotel, I might be wrong.

Hey guys,
I live in Italy (Modena) so if i can help you for anything (phone call, hotels, etc ), just let me know!
Unfortunately i'm not in! :bang:
but fortunately in April i'll be father for the first time!!!:)))

thanks for the links, kully.

still not sure where and how the two of us are going to spend the first and last night, I'll consider the one in Lucca :)

Thanks for the email update Kully. I'm going to try and come along to this one, though I may only be able to make Florence rather than Pisa and Lucca too.

I'll check my diary, look at flights and the hotel links here when I get home tomorrow. I'm in a hunt for my mojo right now so this could be just what I'm after...and finally a chance to meet some old RFF friends!

Cheers

Hi guys
Florence is not so far from me, living in Parma. Although I can't stay a weekend we can manage to meet somewhere saturday or sunday. Keep in mind that Florence is around 1h far by train from Pisa (90/100 km by car), while IIRC Lucca is on a secondary railway line. (i.e. you have to choose if going to one or the other). If some of you would like to try, you might look to be accommodated at the Tenuta Le Viste in Mosciano (on the hill surrounding Florence: quite a lost and expensive place but very nice as well). An alternative place to visit (but not in a two days stay) could be the Cinque Terre, a bit farther than Pisa but needing one whole day or so if you want to walk along the "Love Path" (around 10 miles from Riomaggiore to Monterosso, in longer steps every time) and enjoy the wild sceneries of the ligurian coast.
I offer too my availability for info or other help if needed.

Hello Dino,

Thanks for that post - it was useful. I'll PM you tomorrow.

Simon, the plan at the moment is Lucca and Pisa on Thursday and then some smaller places like San Gimigiano (that is not spelt right at all) &c. (and perhaps back to Lucca even) on Friday, heading to Florence in the evening.

We then meet up in some cafe in the morning, nursing hangovers from all the wine the previous night and go where Rob, Nico and others guide us.

We'll need automobiles on Friday, I'll take Emil, Lluis and Rob - anyone else going to have wheels?

As I thought we were all staying in Pisa on Thursday night, we booked a room there. No way to cancel so we will probably join you guys straight in Florence.

It's just four of us staying in Lucca on Thursday night Yanick (I prefer it to Pisa, and I was sorting the accomodation for three others). It's not far from Pisa - something like 30 minutes.

Kully, I think I'll get a couple of days off work so I can be with you for the countryside trip (in that case I'll bring my car) on friday and monday.
Ciao

Maybe then we can all meet up in Lucca on Friday morning, I don't think anybody else is staying in Pisa on Thursday night.

Nico, have you got room for Nata and I in your car on Friday ? We can get to Lucca by train but if I can avoid having to worry about a car all weekend, I'd prefer  Otherwise I'll probably rent one.

As for Thursday night, I need at least one romantic evening ... so it's fine if you'all beer drinkers are not around the first one ;)

Just to sum up the whole thing (I'm not a smart guy :D):
Thursday ... how many people will be here? I'll be free from work in the early afternoon, so we can plan some activity with the ones staying in the surroundings
Friday: countryside trip, I should have the whole day free, in that case two cars "available" (mine e the one Kully will rent)
Saturday and Sunday : Florence and Florence and FLorence
Monday ... anything up guys (I have a couple of ideas if there's still someone around)?
Ciao

Hi Yannick
I think ther's room for you and Nata on my car, if you're in Pisa for friday you can come to Lucca by train (about 20 min) and then get on the my car.
I hope there'll be some other italian guy on friday so we can have another "available" car.
Ciao
