Bill, you crack me up! I knew I'd get a rise out of someone! I spent several years of my life in B-N, so I know your area very well. In fact, some of my best photos were taken at Sand Hills State Forest, neare Pekin, back in the late 70s-early 80s. There was a diner near there that I simply loved... it was called "Sky Ranch", and the breakfasts were awesome. On one trip that a buddy and I made to Sand Hills, we stopped in for breakfast and immediately noticed a change in ownership, and the food had declined. Hopefully they improved after that.bmattock said:HEY! I'm *from* Central Illinois - raised in the Peoria/Pekin area, and I *love* foam and mesh baseball caps. Dude, I wore them before I was bald. I wore them when it was NOT HIP to know what Bemis Bag, Caterpillar Tractor, or Libbey Foods were. Sniff. I think I'm offended.
Anyway, I still proudly sport my well-worn Community Coffee baseball cap, but I also wear a Borsalino when the cause be just. So there.
Best Regards,

Looks very much like a Tilley made for REI! I'd be interested to see it in person to check the detail.nwcanonman said:Boonie Hat Evolution -
On the left, the original 1960's era Boonie.
Then REI's civilian version 15 years ago (sweat stains optional)
And today's REI boonie/explorer hat, with micro-fiber sweatband 😎

those big tilley hats are the sort that i always pictured mid 50's people wearing on the cloud forrest part of their all inclusive resort trips to Costa Rica, you know, the kind of hat that makes them look like an adventurer to their other friends as they provide their insightful cultural comparisson on the two countries... 😀
sorry to any and all mid fifties people who's practicality has taken over for their fashion senses
chris :wearing a cool hat smiley:
ps. my dad wears one of them hats and i tease him about it all the time, no harm meant.
