H* what about the hat in your avatar? We could get those emblazoned with the rff logo?

But one still provides his/her own brand of Magic to make it work 😀

I wonder if we could get one like this. It'd be perfect for street photography, though we'd have to do something about the vignetting.

You can hide an RF in there and just trigger it with a cable release!

Does anyone make a hat with a big remote flash built into it? Maybe a sturdy top hat? I could use something like that once in a while.

HEY! I'm *from* Central Illinois - raised in the Peoria/Pekin area, and I *love* foam and mesh baseball caps. Dude, I wore them before I was bald. I wore them when it was NOT HIP to know what Bemis Bag, Caterpillar Tractor, or Libbey Foods were. Sniff. I think I'm offended.

Anyway, I still proudly sport my well-worn Community Coffee baseball cap, but I also wear a Borsalino when the cause be just. So there.

Best Regards,

Bill "Redneck Illinois Farmer" Mattocks
Bill, you crack me up! I knew I'd get a rise out of someone! I spent several years of my life in B-N, so I know your area very well. In fact, some of my best photos were taken at Sand Hills State Forest, neare Pekin, back in the late 70s-early 80s. There was a diner near there that I simply loved... it was called "Sky Ranch", and the breakfasts were awesome. On one trip that a buddy and I made to Sand Hills, we stopped in for breakfast and immediately noticed a change in ownership, and the food had declined. Hopefully they improved after that.

And yes, Ive known my share of redneck farmers, and "some of my best friends worked at Cat"!

Looks very much like a Tilley made for REI! I'd be interested to see it in person to check the detail.

But we STILL haven't seen a pic of what Jorge's received, have we???!!!

I'm with you Bill! you know i miss my old black and yellow CAT hat, and my old DEERE one. Plenty of farms around me boyo (in fact my entire town smells a bit right now...), the new foam and mesh hats just don't seem to fit right either...

those big tilley hats are the sort that i always pictured mid 50's people wearing on the cloud forrest part of their all inclusive resort trips to Costa Rica, you know, the kind of hat that makes them look like an adventurer to their other friends as they provide their insightful cultural comparisson on the two countries... 😀

sorry to any and all mid fifties people who's practicality has taken over for their fashion senses

chris :wearing a cool hat smiley:

ps. my dad wears one of them hats and i tease him about it all the time, no harm meant.

Chris: Hey, how did you know how old I am? 🙄 Actually, I started wearing a Tilley many years ago, not long after they were introduced. And, BTW, my outdoor hero is none other than BILL MASON, who wore a Tilley, and he didn't exactly fit the profile you envision! I had a beard for a while, am about the same height as Mason, and paddle my own cedarstrip/canvas canoe. Now if I were only as skilled and physically fit as Mason...!
