What settings do you guys use? (GRD I users preferred)
jpg, B&W, +2 Contrast +1 Sharpness... but I'm blowing more highlights than I'd like to. Quite difficult step from film to a small sensored compact (+ first digital camera).
Maybe I should dial down the contrast, as my pictures get Alien Skin Exposure 4 treatment anyway.
I agree. Reduce contrast & sharpness, and spend some daylight exposures on Low-ISO, if the 1 has that auto-low, if youre in the habit of shooting 400 or higher. Check your metering tool & aim too; those bright skies can be hard to tame when you're drawn to a medium or dark subject in the foreground
That said, I love the kid in this one. If it were mine, I might crop away some of the blownouts and extra adults for the sake of that kid.

Zeno, I sometimes feel as though I'm seeing a math of everyday forms in your minimal compositions. It's restful oddly, as though Euclid is playing a lyre.

... I'd rather have more of your images ...
I'm afraid you will mostly find me posting in the x100 images thread now. Which is a shame as I do love this GRD thread. I was seduced. I'll still post here when I'm going through old GRD shots.

I like the mood you have captured....just a touch of melancholy (for me).

Like this a lot.
Feels like a still from a movie that I'd want to see.

Looked on your blog and saw a couple of versions of this photo. I prefer the one you posted here. Although I really like your black and white work, this one really works better in color.
I think you said you're a big SilverEfx user for black and white, do you use ColorEfx or similiar for color?

I reduced the use of silver efex heavily and don´t use color efex. I like the light and color as it is recorded by the GRD.
Thank you, Michael!

Good to know. Using my GRD III more and was sorta dreading post processing as I usually let my film choice take of this for me in my GR1. The transition to digital, even with as lovely a tool as the Ricoh still has many hitches for me and your work is particularly inspiring.
Are you now working from in camera jpgs or processing the RAWs but with a lighter touch to preserve the cameras inherint lens/sensor qualitites?
