I think there is something to be said for the fact it looks like an oversized black stickle brick too, very unlikely to draw attention to you unlike a whopping expensive looking leica.
Would you say the step up from a GRD to a GRD III is worth it? what are the greatest differences you've noticed?

It produces useable images.
I bought the original GRD seduced by the "noise looks like grain, especially in black and white" rhetoric that was going around and didn't find it so. It was just a noisy little camera, unusable above about 400 or 800 for black and white and above whatever the lowest ISO was for color. I lovey grainy black and white film (Tri-X in Rodinal at 1:25), but just didn't go for the GRD noise.
The GRD III produces lovely images up to about 800 for me and with the fast 1.9 lens it's plenty.
I started using RAW and am very impressed.
I actually can't find a use for the custom settings because it's so easy to just program the regular settings exactly how you like.

While waiting on my wife to come pick me up from work today, I wandered around our building. We're sandwiched between a fabricator shop and a very poor mobile home park filled with mostly poor condition camper trailers. This was right about the time a few of the feeder bands from Hurricane Irene were passing overhead, bringing with them some winds and rain. Nothing compared to what others are dealing with, I'm sure. But it must be a different experience knowing a hurricane is overhead and you're living in a camper trailer...

A couple of images at a little restaurant my wife took me to last week. It's called The Backyard restaurant and it's mostly grilled chicken and steak. Sort of southern cuisine, I guess. Pretty neat little place, though and a bit off the beaten path.

Really like the tones in these black and whites. Are they straight out of the camera or RAW files that have been processed? They have a nice depth to them.

Thanks so much!! These were raws converted to JPEGs in lightroom with some minor adjustments to exposure, etc. And then processed in photoshop with Nik Silver Efex Pro.
We didn't get any of the storm. I sure hope you guys did ok!!!

I'm glad to hear you guys are alright! I heard there was lots of flooding up in the Northeast.
I wish I could offer some suggestions for Silver Efex, but I just sort of play with sliders and buttons until I get something I like... And then I save them as presets and go from there with similar images.
