Ricoh GR1/v/s photos post here

I never had a P&S before I got a Ricoh R1. They have a 30/3.5 lens that started my addiction. Moved over to a Bessa T after the R1 tested gravity on a hardwood floor from the top of a TV six feet up. I also was not overly happy with auto everything. The R1 didn't have any of the controls you have on the GR-1v. I do not think you will find another P&S with the qualities (e.g. handling, sharpness) of the Ricoh. It's one of the reasons I am so in love with the GRD III.

I can definitely see the attraction of the GRD III after sampling the GR1v's capabilities.

The fastish lens must be nice!

Superb image. Just my kind of thing. :)

Been hanging out to post some pics here since my GR1v arrived a couple of weeks ago. This little miracle does exactly what I hoped it would ... I put some Neopan 400 in it and exposed it at 3200 ... lots of contrast which seems to suit the 28mm focal length and the lens is sharp.

Brilliant camera!

Wow, wow, wow! Would you please share your development recipe?

Just got a GR1s from an RFF member and just ran a quick TMax 400 through it.

Can't wait to put some bulk rolled HP5 in that sucker... and now to trick that pesky DX reader.

Just set your Exposure Comp to -2 and shoot at 1600. If you need to compensate for back light then set it to 0.

What I was trying to get at is that my Kalt cartridges don't have DX codes on them. So even to expose my bulk HP5 at 400, I would have to compensate to -2 because the GR1s defauts to 100 if there's no DX code.

So I will have to buy some stickers or find a DIY solution :)

How could I have missed this thread???

Anyway, my contribution. In black-and-white:

Still haven't fixed it since I dropped it a few years back (and my later-acquired Contax Tvs has further distracted me from repairing it, but fix it I will). Hell of a tiny camera.

Edit: This was the camera I had with me on 9/11/01, and photographed with from the same spot as the second photo here, but I have a hard time looking at those images...

^-----@ Barrett, the bridge image kicks it!

I absolutely love the GR-1 in black and white, but I've personally never been able to make it work in color. This, and some of the terrific color images above, are making me wonder what I've been doing wrong.

my GR1s back from repair tomorrow!

my GR1s back from repair tomorrow!

I don't think I've ever been as excited to receive something in the mail. My precious is coming back from CRIS cam tomorrow! The service was pretty quick too!

Mostly worried about a roll of t-max that I idiotically left in the camera...:bang:

Can't wait to start shooting with this baby again.
