TKH, I like that watch! Looks like a 6309 case with aftermarket or relumed 6105 dial. I have a number of Seiko divers but nothing vintage.

Yes you are right, its a 6309 with aftermarket 6105 parts.
It lost around 30 seconds the day so I sold it... 🙄 m

This is the only digital camera I have now. It is such a wonderful tool. I do not think the 50/2.5 and 28/2.5 get much respect. I think the are awesome. They are sharp with nice bokeh.

The photos are not much. I was waiting for my wife with my daughter sleeping in the car, so I was never more than 5-meters from the car.

Maiku, I absolutely agree.
I was debating, wether two go for the GXR, or the X100 two years ago.
Got the Fuji back then (still have it), but the Ricoh was always on the radar.
While I tried to warm up with the RX100, I always found it too small.
Eventually I "traded" it for a GXR 28mm kit, about two weeks ago and am not disappointed.
In fact, I enjoy it so much, that I got me the 50 and my dad a S10 kit.

The prices on the zooms have really bottomed out in Japan. I am thinking I might get a 28-300 so I can play with the scene functions more.

I'll take a look at the S10, as soon as customs decides to let it through...
Might take it out from time to time, if it suits me.

Maiku, my first GXR included the 28-300mm P10 for $20 over the (then-list) $349 cost of the GXR. I don't use it much now--I mostly use the M-mount and the 50 2.5--, but it does offer a tiny travel-zoom option, is easy to pocket, and produces fine images as long as one is not planning to make Big Big Prints.

Oliver, hope you enjoy the 50 more and more. It's worth a lot of shooting time to figure out its best points, and although it can be pokey for close-up AF, I'm spending more time with MF for shots I'm composing rather than grabbing on the fly.

Robert, I think I really will.
I use AF and then fine tune the focus, which works OK for me.
It's a learning curve with the DOF tho. I found the sweet spot of my lensor to be around f3.5. The AF seems quicker than on the 28mm, but that might be just from the more silent movements of the lens.

Selling plasma once a week? But that leaves bruises that may make your friends think you're shooting up.

Maybe a WTB ad with a firm spending budget might bring someone's inactive 50 2.5 lensor out of the closet.

In Japan the prices used range from 31000 yen to 36000 yen. I bought my new last year for 54000 yen. It was well worth it! Drop me line when you really want one. I will try to help.

Update the firmware. I am sure you have, but to be safe check to see what yours is. The latest is V1.51.

Mike, I did and the lensors are on 1.51, while the body is on 1.5.
May upgrade that shortly.

The yellow and blue is intoxicating in #2. Vivid mode (or should I say Velvia mode, as the Fuji X series have it)? Red hibiscus are so hard to render, that hue is so saturated it flares.

Yes, I used Vivid mode for all the shots. You are so correct about the Red hibiscus. I can never get red properly saturated with any flower!

I am debating whether to buy the VF-2 finder or not. Any opinions on it.

This fella had a hard night out. His cellphone, cigarettes, lighter and hat were strewn on the ground. He was sleeping comfortably though!

Yes, get the VF. Focus Peaking through the VF is brilliant in glare or shadow or that awful combination of both at once that creates histograms that resemble a couple who have turned their backs on each other (so why do I try to keep shooting in it in these harshly lit summer days???)

It's like watching a white wave sweep from foreground to background, but seeing it far more clearly than via the LCD. I think I paid $219 for mine, and I'm happy I did.

The new work is great above. Only the 2nd image hurts the eye with all that white-out sky. The others are splendid in their furtive intimacy (1), or in their superhuman architectural scale.
