The vignetting is in camera. The Ricoh GXR cameras have an option to Program dial called Scene. You can choose a few photographic options like:
1. vignetting
2. cross-process
3. high contrast
etc.

Thanks! I'm a GXR-M owner, but I am not sure that it has that option. Although I'm not so fond of the "vignetting" option, you're doing a lot of interesting things exploring all those different modes.

What firmware are you running on the camera modules?
It is fun to explore with this camera. My only grip is the slow auto-focus.
Just to help turn the dial to scene, hit menu button and a series options should show on the LCD display. If nothing is displayed then you do not have the latest firmware. Head the Ricoh site to download the firmware.

I'm running 1.51. I have a scene mode and so on, with several interesting options, but not "vignetting"--which is OK! I believe the different lens modules add different options, but the M-mount module is the only one I use. The high-contrast B&W and "cross-process" modes are fun. There is, I now see, a "toy camera" mode, which says that it adds some vignetting.

Toy Camera is what I used. I wish I could get a M-mount module, but alas I have to be satisfied with what I have!

In the past, Canadian stores have had some very good deals on the m module, under 300, as close outs. I have occasionally seen used ones that are only available for Canadian local pickup there at reasonable prices as well.

It is still winter here, so I thought I would go to a Junior B hockey game.

Inspired by "back alley's" farmer market's I decided to head the local farmer market to snap some photos. It was nice to be inside with fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat etc. and think it was summer instead of dreary winter outside.

Photos were taken at the local under 21 Junior B hockey game. My hometown team lost in 7-games to their arch-rvials. I was quite disappointed. They played their worst game in game of the series in game 7! The pressure I guess!

I took a walk in a nearby wetland. My hometown lacks anything photographic. I thought a walk in the countryside would open my mind. It did. I got me thinking that a change of gear might be in order. Rural Canada is a complete contrast to urban Japan. My vision needs to change. An dSLR with zoom might be in order. I got Minolta AF zooms, but no dSLR!

A dslr may not be the only solution.. Csc cameras are also an option as well. If u really need fast af though, the best of the dslrs cannot be beat still..

Though a yankee transplant to the deep south, I still can not pretend -let alone imagine the dramatic move you have recently made from Japan to Canada. I will say this though: what you have pulled from your new surroundings, even in the coldest of weather is genuinely inspirational to me. Each image more satisfying than the previous, collectively, they make an amazing set to me. The Ricoh seems to be a loyal friend, but sometimes a small gear change can help you feel more rooted. I suppose we can sometimes feel lost in major moves like this, and though you may not realize it yet ... I think you are rediscovering yourself and the beauty around you rather successfully. Good luck with your decision, and please keep posting.

I would like a Minolta 7D dSLR because buying a Ricoh GXR A12 M-mount and adapter would be bloody expensive. The Minolta 7D 6.1 million pixel is fine with me. Picking up a cheap Minolta film body would be nice too. The Minolta 7000 that came with my Minolta zoom lenses needs repair.

The move turned out to be harder than I thought because I did not really want to leave Japan, but felt I had to for the sake of my kids. Now, that I have been home awhile and spring has started I am really beginning to settle in. My move to Japan was the opposite. I embraced it thinking would be a temporary move not a long-term move, so the transition was exciting.
Rural Canada and urban Japan are two different worlds, so I need to think and look at the world differently. In Japan, you only need a 28mm and 50mm lens to see the world IMHO because everything is right in your face. Whereas in Canada, I feel like need a longer lenses to capture scenes because of space and distance.
