Was just in Italy and used the combo for all pictures posted.
Mostly all shot at F2. LR4 for processing.
Please let me know what you think?

Very nice and varied shooting. A couple of the building shots have a slight blue cast that I personally may have removed, but otherwise, I love the shots. The one with the bird and the fountain is awesome.

Thanks so much for the feedback.
CliveC, how would you remove the blue tint? I'm pretty new to lightroom.

Gotta love the picture of the bird in flight over the Uffizi fountain.
Ebay prices for the pre asph lens will have doubled overnight because of this thread.

It's not a major thing, maybe as simple as nudging the warmth slider over to yellow a bit. Alternatively in the HSL section, pull Aqua and/or Blue back a touch in Saturation.

Shot this combo for almost a year and really enjoyed the images this setup can capture. I really like what you have created here.

Beautiful pictures. What kind of processing did they get in Lightroom?

funkydog, thank you.
Helen, thank you for the kind comments and the fav's!
CliveC, thank you, will try your suggestions.
Duane, I purchased this lens after seeing some of your photos.
Tom, minimal processing in LR, I used the "smooth as velvia" preset and minor tweaks from there, mostly cropping, some exposure adjustment. The OOC images were very close to final posted images.
Thank you again for all the feedback, I really appreciate it. I'm still learning a great deal and trying to take better photos each outing.

Some truly wonderful images in there Rezinator.
I think this one had to be my personal fav from them all - http://www.flickr.com/photos/76526546@N02/8758665832/
And thank you. You've finally given me the push to pick up this GXR I've found a good deal on. Was a bit worried about some things, but clearly the IQ is there if you can get around a few of the quirks.
Not if only I could spend some time in Italy myself lol. I guess Mongolia will have to do
