I see this thread has been edited! Not sure I'm happy about that because I thought members' replies were dealing with the 'unexpected' comment quite well.
In response I went looking for examples of Peter Marlow's work - to be honest I wasn't familiar with the extent of his collection but only really with the few shots that had made headlines.
I found that many of his photos had a simplicity about them - not minimal but going that way, and obviously not to everybody's taste. However I'm now curious to see how he has rendered 43 Cathedrals in England, photos of which to be shown in Coventry this coming April.
A careful curation of Marlow's many photographs will probably more readily reveal the significance of his contribution to photography - more than a loss to his grieving family: sympathies to them.
