Very sad to hear this news. The man was a living legend who's words about photography and equipment carried so much weight. It was always inspiring to see him so active here, and so generous with his wealth of knowledge. It was always exciting to hear about what lenses he was testing and developing with Mr. Kobayashi. Reading his comments here, and looking at his Flickr always encouraged me to shoot more. He will be missed so much!

I came here directly from seeing a photo posted by Helen Hill. I wasn’t sure I was reading her comments correctly and thought I’d stick my nose in a door I haven’t entered for a very long time.
Good to see you on the RFF, we will all miss Tom, I could not believe I was reading it correctly either. Oh my!!! There is an age when life begins to steal our friends.

But you can call me Steve
I was on Flickr just yesterday and looking at the pictures of him in the hospital I thought he was awfully fragile looking. What a loss of knowledge and wisdom.

In tribute I shall load an M2 with Tri-X, attach a 35mm (preferably an obscure or rare type) and shoot it off today.
A great loss on both a personal and community level, thoughts are with Tuulikki.
His tag line "One-Off Industrial Designs" applies to Tom, he was One-Off and a Gentleman.

this is terrible news. Never had the chance to meet up in Vancouver but bumped into he and Tuulikki in Toronto a few years back. This community has lost a very bright light

Very sad news. Heartfelt condolences to his wife and family and the spirit of Mr.B.
I had numerous contacts by e-mail with him on his products (rapidwinder and softie).
He was always very helpful and it felt he could be a great pal in person.
He will be dearly missed but I will touch a Tom A. softie every single shot I take with my MM.
A true loss for his family but also for the RFF community.

Wow what bad news. Tom was always courteous with answering my questions about photography & the use of any camera. He knew EVERYTHING about taking proper photos. VERY good man to have as a friend. A person who was very helpful to me with upgrading my skills to make a "perfect" photograph. RIP my friend.
