RIP Tom A

This is one of the beautiful things RFF does -- I would never have known about Tom's death otherwise and, while it is very sad news, I would rather know then not.

I did have the pleasure of meeting and knowing him. I feel like were friends albeit distant ones.

My heart goes out to Tuulikki and to everyone who knew and loved Tom.

I only have chat with him through email before. The only thing I knew from him is that he was a very nice gentleman and a very famous member in photography. I feel so sad that I could not have a chance to meet him before. We lost so many lovely people in the past 2016, and now we lost one more... Just so sad...

R.I.P. Tom.

My condolences to his family and loved ones.

Sad to hear about the death of a generous and kind person... my condolences to his family. And I have seen I'm not alone. Very, very sorry about the news.

I came here directly from seeing a photo posted by Helen Hill. I wasn’t sure I was reading her comments correctly and thought I’d stick my nose in a door I haven’t entered for a very long time.

Tom was a regular here at RFF and a modern day legend in photography. He was also a supporter of a couple of pools that I admin over at Flickr both are film based pools. He would often figuratively stop by, look and comment on some of the shots I had in my stream.

He was as everyone has described. A model of knowledge, affability and warmth. Tom seems to have had that magic of being able to ‘touch everyone’ in some manner. For that I think we are all better in this curious community cemented together by cameras.

Tom ‘bon voyage’ we will miss you. Tuulikki my deepest condolences I know my words are inadequate but believe me and everyone here when we each say we wish you support at this time.

Such terrible news - I'm in shock!

Tom will be sorely missed. I always enjoyed reading his posts and see his latest Flickr feed.

We have sadly lost one on the 'greats' of the RF community.

As you may know, besides being a contributor to the RFForum, Tom is also a frequent contributor to the LUG (Leica Users Group), and it's just so happen that I am the editor of the LUG year book 2015 and I am in the process of working on the book for 2016.

I would like to include photos and tribute to Tom. I have gotten a good number of photos already. but if you have any treasured photos or memories of Tom, please send them to me richard@richardmanphoto.com for inclusion.

Very sad indeed :(
My early forays into film rangefinder photography and film developing involved reading countless of advice from Tom A. Sent him a few emails throughout the years, each was replied with graciously with invaluable advices.

What a legend and a huge loss for the the photographic community worldwide.

R.I.P. Tom

devastating news, what an inspiration he was, a huge loss to the photographic community worldwide. my deepest condolences to his family.

Sad new for us all. May he live on in our memories and be an example in many things, in photgraphing and personal.

Sad news. I only knew him through RFF, but his generosity and goodness came through his postings and, of course, his pics (Camera & Coffee thread particularly). RIP.

This is really sad to hear. Tom was really friendly and an inspiration both to photographers and gearheads. He will be missed.
