So I just got a Rollei B35 and having the darndest time trying to close the back after placing a roll of film in it. I was examing the camera before I put a roll in and it just wouldn't close so I thought maybe it needed a roll to be in the there to close...but it still won't close. Seems that the small knob on the bottom won't turn to lock the back in place.
Is there a flaw in the camera I got or am I just not doing something right. Or is there a quirk in this tiny camera that I'm not aware of? I tried a Google search but found nothing that would explain.. I thought I was competent enough to figure it out but now I'm just perplexed.....
Can anyone help?

I have not heard or read of a camera that does not close when there is no film in it. Google Butkus + Manual He has manuals there that you could peruse.

That little knob on the bottom should rotate and engage the lock. The "ears" should be horizontal when locked and at an angle to unlock.
My personal feeling on the B35 and C35 is that there was way too much plastic used in the body. Hopefully, it's not broken beyond repair.

Just by looking it seems that there's something blocking it with the cover off on the rewind button side. Not sure if it's suppose to be there but I think that's what is preventing it from locking. I suppose I can still use the camera with it unlocked....

I can send you some photos of my camera, if you think that would help. That way, you might be able to see if any parts are out of place or missing.

Sometimes the top edge of the removeable back knocks against the bottom edge of the top deck in the back when trying to close up the camera, and needs to be pushed under with a thumb.

Thanks Mike...just to make it easier for you I'm posting a shot of what mine looks like.
Here's a shot of the inside in what I think is blocking it from locking. The cover is off...excuse the lousy photo...
@Frank...The camera does close but the only thing is that the lock isn't turning..it's flush in there but the only thing is that it doesn't lock..

I fixed it. Seems that the end was bent a little which prevented it from locking. Just used a pair of needlenose pliers to lift it a bit and bingo it closed.
Thanks for your help everyone...I'm a happy camper and going to run a roll thru it
