Rollei hood and filters

I just acquired a Rolleicord Vb. A yellow filter just arrived today, and a Bay 1 hood is on the way. What I can't understand is how to attach both, with only one bayonet flange. As I see it, I can attach either the filter, or the hood, but not one atop the other on the taking lens.

I find that a filter hood combo on my 35mm is the perfect setup for B&W. How can I make it work on my new/old TLR? Thanks in advance for advice.

Don`t know about the Vb but with my 3.5E (bay II), the yellow-filter, Rolleinar I or Rolleinar II fit together into the hood of the taking lens.

On my Rolleiflex, the hood mounts on the outside bayonet, while the filters mount on the inside. Usually I attach the filter first, then the hood.

Sorta like this:

Inside ring is the filter, the hood mounts over the filter to the outside bayonet. It's kind of a hassle but you have to remove the hood to change the filter, then put the hood back on.

Fantastic. I'm sure the Vb is the same as the 'Flex. I was somewhat flummoxed to find no obvious way to fix the hood on top of the filter. Love the Rolleicord, and this should make it better.

Hi Dana,

I had a Vb, I can confirm that the hood fits "around" the filter, as in kzphoto's illustration.
In fact, not only do the filters fit this way: changing filters and the hood is actually way faster with a Rollei than with most other camera systems, since you do not have to screw multiple turns, just "align and click".

Have fun with your Rolleicord, it is a sweet camera.

Thanks for the post ! Came up with the same false issue. I should have taken a closer look and trusted the Germans for their clever engineering. Never realised there was a double bayonet mount on my Vb ;-(. Now I can mount the filter and the hood. Just done it ;-)) Thanks again !

But, like me, you can come unstuck. I bought a 'Bayonet 1 lens hood for Rollei & Yashica TLR Cameras' on eBay and when it arrived was disappointed to find that it fits into the inner lugs - so preventing simultaneous use of a filter. 🙁

Now need to find a UK source for a proper Bay 1 lens hood!
