Rondinax 60 light leak

Hello:

I have a Bakelite Rondinax 60 since some weeks. I developed 2 rolls of (expired) film in it.

Both rolls look like "pre exposed" all over. There is no more complete transparent part on the film. So I assume a light leak.

Any Ideas or experience where the light usally leaks in on a Rondinax 60?

There are no cracks or broken corners visible.

PS: I also have a Rondinax 35U, later version which works fine.

Try again with 6 exposures of known to be good film. That is 12".

If still fogged, try again and develop in total darkness.

I have no experience with that tank, just Nikors. I bet the film was fogged before going in the tank.

Last trick is get a keychain light and go into a dark room and see if light comes out. Guys do this with LF bellows cameras all the time.

It sounds like you are not closing the light trap when you are removing the paper backing and attaching the film to the reel. Do you have the Rondinax 60 instruction manual?

Just noticed you said expired film. Depending on how expired, it could be badly fogged. Best to work with fresh film.

Hello:

Thank you all for your replies.

I have got the manual with the Rondinax 60. I have read it and also watched the video about using it.

And yes, I closed the light tight chamber during the most critical phase where the film end is clipped on.

Since nobody replied about known problems with some parts of the Rondinax 60 I hope it was really a problem with the old films, and I try it with a fresh film again.

Hope you find out what is going on. I have a Rodinax 35 I think it is, for 35mm film. I haven't used it yet, but want to some time soon.

I hope you will let us know what you find out.

Hello:

Shot a roll of Foma professional in my Ercona II.
Loading the Foma in the Rondinax 60 was a problem, it did not want to go into the first chamber. But since I was warned about issues with the foma film in the Rondinax 60 I loaded in a dark room and "helped" the beginning of the film to find into the chamber.

Everything else went fine at daylight. No light leak ;-)

I developped in 150ml A49 1+1 at 20° for 8'30" rotating 180° every 2".
The result looks good at first sight. I need to wait till the film is dry for further inspection of the results.
