rx 200?

For me

Would like to c them go wider to 24fov then longer to 140. I want better iso capability.. Right now 400 is good and 800 is acceptable. Give me a stop. Don't need more mega pixels.

My dream pocketable camera fwiw would have
- 24fov fixed (can be retractable for pocketability)
- enough megapixels so I can crop to 50 equiv and still have 10 mp of usable resolution
- no AA filter
- good iso up to 1600
- fast af and snap focus option
- sensor size at least 1 inch
- optional evf capability

Probability of this dream camera happening - zero..

The added room it would take to house a pop up, why not just have built in evf? If u are talking pop up like the old sport frame stuff from the old days, then tat would be a different matter.

i seriously wish it would go to 24mm... if it does, i will probably end up getting it. 1.4 vs 1.8 isnt that much of a big difference as it was from f2 to f1.4 on the LX5 to the LX7...
 
While the Sony RX100 has given me some great shots I'm considering selling it. I don't enjoy the camera as much as my GRD IV. I already have the GR on order. The Sony is however more versatile with its zoom lens and makes a good option as a travel camera. If the new Sony is different enough in its handling and menus I could be tempted.
 
Take the RX100:

- Add a small grip
- Add a hotshoe
- Make the lens fast at the long end, let's say f2.8

Done. Would buy immediately, even if it means I can retire 95% of all my gear.
 
A bit bigger would be nice. Even just another 1.5-2cm with a moulded in grip on the shutter release side would really help handling.

Yes. Allow me to rant: From what I have seen the RX-100 would beat nearly all my gear, up to and including my medium format Hasselblad. Wait, what? Yes, because my enlarger and my scanner prevent getting more out of the negatives there.

The RX-100 is definitely better than my Nikon D70 and D200 as far as resolution and hi-ISO performance are concerned and it comes close to my NEX-3.

Also my 35mm tool chain (F90x, FM, M2 + Nikon Coolscan V) would be hard pressed to beat it, especially when convience is also taken into account.

Only the Nikon D600 with the full might of my Nikon primes, full frame sensor (with 'magic' hi-ISO performance) would clearly beat it.
