A few days ago there was a news story here about film going up in price and then yesterday I went to the shops to restock the dry box and the 35mm Ilford hp5 that I ususaly got for 27rmb ($3.33) each is now 41rmb ($5.06) and the 35mm Velvia 100F that was 48rmb ($5.92) is now 70 rmb ($8.64) each.

So here even though film may not be dead it seems its gona be harder for me to afford it here later on, and here I am getting ready to buy a leica... :bang:

Wow! That's a 52% and a 46% increase.

we're paying over a buck a litre for gas now too!

Joe you're in "oil central" for all of Canada. How come your prices are higher than mine? Hope it's not going to Ralph's RRSP ... LoL!

I bought a scooter. Fill up $5 and good for over 100 miles. Fun factor is huge too. I can see you on one.....

Weird. I was thinking about a Honda scooter. But I did the math. My drive to work one way is 3.1 miles. Even at 3 dollars a gallon, 70 mpg doesn't save me enough over my current 17 mpg to buy a scooter at something like $1700 with a one-year payoff.

I thought I'd look good on a scooter. Show those Harley guys - 300 pounds of beefcake on a bike the size of a moped.

im sure you can get bulk rolled film here, I just have never been able to find it. Pickings are pretty slim here in China, I cant even find 400 speed slide or agfa or even rodinal

I'm probably going to sink another $50 into film from Freestyle as soon as I find some money.

go to the classifieds, you might see something you like.

gas prices I dont even want to talk about that...and I drive a diesel car...a few cents cheaper

In some places diesel is now more than gasoline so enjoy the advantage while you can.

Hehe 😛

Premium Unleaded is about US $1.80 a liter here...costs about as much as a roll of Lucky B/W film: more shootin', less drivin' 😉

I expected this price rise. Silver and other metals are way up on the commodities market. Plus, petroleum is the prime component in the film base.

OT - Scooters have a fun factor. Plus, where I work they have the added advantage of being able to park close in. That is where the dedicated motorcycle parking is usually located. Keep in mind, that Texas is still the land of large SUV's and 4 door pick up trucks.

OT- Parte Dos - To get to work, which is about 2 miles from my house, I'm relying on a $40 10 Speed bike, which is about 35 years old. It was 101 degrees on Monday and I'm sure the sight of 235 lbs of "fatman" pulling a hill on ancient British road bike was a glorious site for all the motorist to behold.

I just stocked up on some Kodak 100 Gold for some summer shooting. I believe that Kodak Gold is imported from China. It was $1.80 a roll. It may not be as gorgeous as Velvia, but it was definitely affordable.

Aren't Kodak and Lucky the same?
