camera body that is...

been saving for another body, maybe the zi but in black.

however, it occurs to me that i don't really need another camera, want maybe but do not need.
so maybe i need to focus on lenses.

after reading the cv 21 thread and looking at some of the attached pics i'm leaning in the wide direction.
long is not doing it for me these days, maybe in the future.

i don't really have a question but i would like to have a discussion, maybe camera vs. lens.

how about the CV 21 first ... it will satiate your desires while putting less hurt on your wallet than the Zeiss Ikon will ...

but once that 'idea' of getting another camera worms into one's brains, you know there is but one real cure 🙂

For me, I add bodies to satisfy the collector in me. I have my Canon bodies and a Leica IIIC so I have my LTM needs filled and with the M6 and M3 as main shooters I can do all of the RF photography that will ever need to. I have considered saving for a ZI, or finding a CLE, or an R2a..... but I really don't need AE, it would be nice though.

Lenses though, if you don't have the focal length you need to make the shot you want to, then you have to take a different shot. You don't need every focal length, but you should have the spectrum you need covered.

How about fully mechanical camera? like Leica MP? it will be ultimate black and white camera and you don`t have to think about battery? it is very small camera also 🙂 I am also thinking about this but for real future 🙂

I agree with Roland.. the 15 is extremely addictive - but the 21 does offer a little less "distortion" (and by that I mean the normal bending you'd see in images shot with a 15mm lens 😀 )

The 21mm is a great street lens (so is the 15mm but I use that in special circumstances) so it may be the thing that whets your whistle 😀

Is it a question of buying a third camera, or exchanging the CL for an ZM? Your two-camer kit + 7 lenses + Hexar AF seems very complete to me, with the exception of a wider angle lens.

I don't know the size difference between the ZM and the CL, but I might be tempted to sell the CL (keeping the Hexar as my compact camera), and standardize my system with an all ZM camera kit.

i have thought of selling the m3 and the cl and getting a second zi, but so far, the cl is too much fun and so easy to carry around and the m3 satisfies the 'need for a peice of history' in me.
the hexar af may have been a poorly thought out purchase. time will tell...

afa an even wider lens, i think my frustration level might peak with a 15 as it seems like 'work' keeping things in order.

Joe,

After the reading that I have done and all of the input from folks around here, I'm definitely sold on the CV 21/4. However, my widest lens is a 35 at the moment. I don't know how much more the 21 would give you seeing as how you already have a 25. Those in the know seemed to suggest in the 21 thread that it would give you a fair bit more. But, in your shoes, that would be my concern. If I were you, I would probably be tempted to take Dave and Roland's advice and at least look at the 15. I might still wind up with the 21. But given your set-up, I would definitely be looking lens rather than body right now. My 2 cents.

i don't think really wide is my thing but the 25 felt good and the 21 pics look really good to me...so maybe i'm changing.

the first af pics are still in the can sitting with about 20 rolls of unprocessed film.

I missed the M3 when I scanned your signature, and I agree, it's a classic body, esp. with the 50/2.8. So unless you want to make some drastic changes (like going all-Leica or all-ZM), I don't see camera bodies in your future (my crystal ball has been wrong before though).

I think maybe the thing to do is shoot with the 25/2.8 exclusively for a month, and remain conscious of your vision while doing so. Do you find yourself needing a wider perspective as you shoot, or does it feel just right?

you can also split them up

you can also split them up

if you sell, you might get your money back by selling the finder and lens separately.

i just sent payment on the cv 21 with finder.

worse comes to worst and i'll sell it if i don't like it but i have a good feeling about this - it just makes sense to me.
