I'm still a film only shooter so here I am learning for the future. I wanted to add a thought about deleting photos. Every year some relative asks me for photos of someone (probably deceased) and in going thru my old photos I find shots that I might have thrown away originaly, now have value. I'm an amateur so I don't shoot more than 200 rolls a year but I would urge everyone to save those shots if you can. They may have future value

Here is a link that some may find informative and useful regarding the archiving of digital media. As you will see, it is quite problematic. I think that film wins on this front. But, I just bought an M8! So, I will be shooting both from this point forward.

I once lost a CD full of pictures due to a scratch. My backup regime now consists of:
- computer
- external hard drive
- CD/DVD
- web (flickr)
I keep a spreadsheet as to the backup sources for each photo set.
