Saw a Nikon FM3a at a camera show

Actually the 45/2.8P is considered one of the best pieces of glass that Nikon has put out in a very long time.

Dead on Harry. Mine is almost always on my FM3A
and it makes for a great combination.

Dang Right

Dang Right

I bought the FM3a..... This rig rocks.

Ken you are a LUCK DOG! Great camera and great price. While I'm an old fart loving my F, she is a wonderful camera is may well last long enough to be used by your great grand children. Very rare for a camera these days.

Get yourself a 180/2.8 ED and you are done, set.....would you believe on the right road?

Enjoy.

I thought about getting one; but then my F2 would get jealous, and if I get a motordrive for the F2 then my Fs would get jealous, and who knows where the madness would end?

It's heavy and kind of interferes with the camera's proportions. Therefore, the answer to the the question, "Does this accessory make my camera's butt look big?" is a definite "Yes." Your other camera's might not get jealous. :D

The FM3A is a great little SLR! It's been my travel camera of choice for the last five years or so when going on extended trips and has never let me down. I like it so much I have two!! My standard travel kit is FM3A x 2 & AIS24/2.8, AIS50/1.4, AIS105/2.5 + a selection of 52mm filters and enough slide film for the trip. Can't be beat! I also carry along an SB-30 flash for those times when flash is needed. Makes for a pretty compact kit for an SLR setup.

I've had my FM3a 6yrs and love it. Still going on it's original batteries! My only critisisms are the loud shutter, and the AE lock button is totally unusable for left eyed people like me as your nose is in the way.

It is loud. Battery drain is minimal. It's a manual camera for sure. However, I'm spoiled by exposure LEDs. Needle matching can get frustrating in low-light situations. Also, this camera is still pretty expensive to acquire. I've seen used prices that are comparable to used prices for the F4 and F5. I know I know, different beasts, but still...
