I think I could like a IIIS. No more messing with that door in the way, and an honest lens barrel to grip. I think the IIIC was the best folder 35mm ever built, and the IIIS just improves on that.

I think the Voigtländer Vitessa was the best 35mm folder ever, but I do like My IIc 😉
The IIIS looks superb, bigger, better viewfinder, and very good lenses too.

And Chris Sherlock is THE man for Retinas. Mine came back like new. Is the meter accurate? I was surprised that the one on my Vitessa is 100% accurate, compared to a Sekonic.

It looks like that the meter is pretty acurate - but more to say when I get back my first film this afternoon.
 
While getting the film developed, I found another IIIS and bougt it 😀
Optical nice, meter working, metercord ain't broken with a 2,8 50mm but the shutter isn´t working nicely - all is sticky and stiff but for 16,-€ I couldn't resist.
I think Chris will get a new job next year 😉

The film turned out well and I´m scanning it @ the moment.
 
Nice looking camera and photos. Never had one myself. I was introduced to Weltas after my father died, and have liked them much ever since. I think there are similarities except for light meters in your model. Hope you get the photos you want with it and your 'new' one.
 
Beautiful camera. I have a Retina 1a and a 2a. The F2 Xenon lens on the 2a is especially sharp...........sometimes I think it surpasses the 50mm cron on my M3. The 1a is a viewfinder only but it is fun to go out with the grandkids on a "sunny 16" day, set hyperfocal F16 and take wonderful images. Congratulations on your new Retina. You will find it to be a lifetime keeper!

For sure I will keep it as long as possible!
I started fotografie with my fathers VF Zeiss Ikon contina IIa - ( now I have a few of these ;-) )
Have SLR Systems (Voigtländer Bessamatic - Zeiss Ikon Contaflex - Canon FD - Nikon AF - Yashica FX-3
RF Voigtländer Vito CSR and Vitoret LR
But allways wantes a rangefinder with interchangeable lenses like a Leica.
With collecting the Bessamatic stuff I came across the Kodak Retina reflex and found out that you can use the Schneider-Kreuznach and Rodenstock lenses with the Bessamatic just with a minor change.

Next step was that with this knowlegde I crossed the Retina IIIs!
The fullfill of my dreams! A RF with interchangeable lenses - leafshutter - German made 😉 and lenses that can be used on my voigtländer Bessamatic!

I couldn't use the Voigtländer lenses on the IIIs -they don't have the rangefinder coupling, but on a Retina Reflex you could do it this way too.

So this little beauty suits my collection well and will be used as often as possible.
I still hope to find the 4,0 85mm - 4,0 28mm and the 1,9 50mm to get the range complete.
 
Okay, you've convinced me. I'll trade in my IIIC for a IIIS, though it may be a while. Too many things going on right now to make the change
