Hi !

I would like to try TRI-X film. But I'm in a hybrid workflow.

Is TRI-X a scannable film ? ( I use a Nikon coolscan V ED).

Some examples are very welcome. Thanks !

Try this one:

Tri-X is great for scanning. Got one of my favorite grandson images on RFF:

If you want to compare, the sardine festival images starting with "07" were Tri-X @ 800, pushed. The others (starting with 06, 05) were Neopan 1600. You can get an idea of the better tonality I got with Tri-X.

Most of the b&w in my Turkey expo were Tri-X. The photos were taken in 1981-82, and scanned in 2004. The negatives are still in great shape:

Tri-X grain is pleasant to me, and recently I've been using Rodinal to develop. Very sharp and excellent tonality, but the grain does show. All my older images were D-76, including the Turkey expo.

Have fun.

no problems when for me! although i get better tonal range scanning in 16bit color slide mode and then inverting.. but thats just my own personal workflow preference.
