Scanning problems

Got this weird things after I scan this negs!







In the negs I can not detect anything like this. I also tried with a magnify glass to aid my search and can not see this things!

Maybe you should start by naming what scanner, software and operating system you are using. This would help others to offer advice.

You are right, sorry for that! The scanner is an HP scanjet 3570c, software is HP Scanning! Windows XP!

It might be the Bizzaro world or exposure to Kryptonite.

No, when I took this pictures, I was using my wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey filter. And the film is one those films with anti-kryptonite layer!😛

Frame the results and sell the prints!

Then reboot and rescan - see what happens. Sometimes they just get wonky. If it continues, it's broken. Or it's your new "style."

Did it and it's the same! Only in the second negative is more clear. Other negs only have like the first pic. Other's do not have any of it!

It looks like the effect you get with a knackered sensor on a digicam - maybe the scanner's starting to give up ?

AFAIK the scanner was not supposed to give you colours when scanning a B&W negative. This may not really help, but you may try to scan it with different settings, for example scanning it as a "colour negative" and then convert the file to B&W.
Had you scanned other B&W negatives with the same scanner ??

Yes, shouldn't be color if you are scanning B&W as B&W. You should get a grayscale (or greyscale, depending on where you live 🙂) negative. If you are scanning as a color negative to be converted in Photoshop (sometimes this does allow for finer detail in the initial scan, so not a bad approach) then make sure that dust removal is turned off during the scan as this can create strangeness when scanning silver-based films.

I had a HP scanner once and he started doing this but only on color negs. I tried different software but it still did the same thing. I was told that it was dying a slow death. I bought a new one insted of getting it fixed.

Yes, all the b&w negatives that I have, since I began developing at home. The scan doesn't have many options and the resault of scanning negatives, it always do the positive. All my b&w negs become yellow/sepia color positives. In photoshop I run some of the adjust tools and then grayscale (greyscale) it!

Other negatives come out good. All of my posts here, with the resault posives only show beginner touch! Weird is only this two got this, and other 2 got like 2 big stripes that didn't exist in the negs also. The other that I scan, are fine!

Time to get a new scanner...
