Scanning with a digital camera

Good days for digital darkroom. This from downtown Boston, NLP Frontier 3 Std AutoColor Warm.

Does anyone know if it's possible to stop NLP from writing 'Digitized with Negative Lab Pro v2.1.2' in the caption field of images? It's more than a little annoying when you're ploughing through hundreds of scans! Thanks.

Happens when you export with one of the NLP export presets. Not with other export presets.

What's populated in the Caption field is controllable in the Export dialog. Export... Pick one of the NLP Presets. Scroll a bit to see the selections for the Caption field.

Circled item will remove the text you mention.

Digital darkroom days here... Trying NLP on a snow scene. NLP's "Auto-Color Neutral" does a good job making the snow white. Then adjusted a bit to get the snow texture I wanted. I'm having a great time with NLP.

First time DSLR scanning set up:

Nikon D5100 (RAW, 1/6 sec, emulsion side facing camera)
Nikon Micro-Nikkor 55mm f3.5 (at f11)
Nikon PK-3 extension tube
iPhone 11 as a light table
Abdi Camera film carrier
Cheap tripod
A stack of books to elevate the film carrier (need a dedicated copy stand)

Taken with Nikon F2, Nikon Micro-Nikkor 55mm f3.5, Kodak Trix 400:

I hadn't used my camera scan rig for a while, but I'm getting back to it and need to tackle color negative conversion. Black and white has been fine, so the basics are covered.

It seems clear that Negative Lab Pro is the favorite and I plan to download the trial version soon. I do have Lightroom with a license expiring in a couple months, but don't care for it or use it otherwise. I take it there is no other way to use Negative Lab Pro?

Has anyone tried Silkypix 10 which now offers color negative conversion. Their software is quirky, but the output is very nice. I like their Fuji X-Trans raw conversions in the older version that Fuji bundled.

Yeah..you have to have lightroom..which is why I never got NLP..
I have Silkypix on my computer but never used it..will update and see how good it is..

Thanks. It is an adventure figuring out Silkypix mostly because of the poor translation to English, but the output is nice. I will get the trial version of that too eventually, but want to spread those out and use the Negative Lab Pro first while I still have Lightroom.

I don't do much film color, but found quite a few rolls in my freezer that I'd like to use up.

I think of NLP and Lightroom as essential gear if you are a colour film shooter.
People have no problem buying an extra lens, body etc which often ultimately has no effect on their images, but NLP and LR does.

I think its easier to just shoot slide film..way easier to deal with in any program..and funner too...

Some people..are ..cheep..and dont wanna pay monthly fees..for something they dont use that much..lol..

I will be trying Negative Lab Pro, but am still curious about Silkypix. I may have missed some posts here over the years, but have not seen anything about the Silkypix conversions yet.

I'm saving my 30 day Silkypix trial until later when I have more to experiment with it. Maybe someone else will be curious enough to try it now.

That is probably a version bundled with a camera. I have one like that for Fuji. The full version of Silkypix 10 should handle most cameras. I think they mention support for 700 cameras, but I did not find a list of them.

The lastest version, 10, is the only one with the color negative conversion, which is probably why it is so hard to find info on that. I believe they have a 30 day free trial.

Scanning film w/ my NS and NLP 2.1 setup. I have latest version of FujiFilm X-Acquire now compatible with latest Catalina. I have 15.4. I have X-Acquire and LR Classic connected per instructions, including making Photos and Files/Folders available to X-Acquire. I must have some setting wrong or failed to connect/disconnect a setting. I'm using a TetherTool cable. No success in connecting camera. Anybody with any thoughts, I'd appreciate. Frank

Digital darkroom days continue. Working through many years of negatives. This is a 1986 shot, all dressed up for a gala ball at the Boston MFA. Kodacolor (!!), Sony A7 flash, NLP.
