Scanning Woes...

speaking of scanner focus, i did some more testing on my V700 and tried 'shimming' the 35mm holder. 3mm's higher than the highest setting and my new scans are much better then my old scans, sharper and i can see grain now.

if anyone is having issues with their flat bed film scanner, and image sharpness, they may like to try this out. i increased the height by roughly 6mm (using 1mm thick thin card) cut into squares to prop the feet up on then, then scanned viewed at 100%, removed and repeated until I attained the sharpest scan then reduced 1mm more and the quality degraded a tiny bit. I then cut the thin card to fit better and using some electrical taped them to the bottom of the holder (2mm of card, roughly 1mm of tape). It is secure and my scans are now better. I also use betterscanning ANR inserts for the 35mm film channels.
