Hey--I'm in Seattle too. The Rainer Valley side of Mt. Baker. And always up for a brew with other photo geeks...;-) The Elysian is cool. Is the Tangletown location near the old Honey Bear Bakery? Easier parking than the Cap Hill location, but an area that's easy for outa-towners to get lost in..(hence Tangletown.) If parking is the main criterion, Hales on Leary Way is a good choice.

Heck, I have to be at 3 different meetings on Feb. 4th. Maybe another Sat., like the 11th? I'd love to meet everyone ......... and hopefully buy another strap from the "Master" Gordy.
 
Saturdays at Brouwer's can be pretty tough for parking (at least in the afternoons, they do not have a parking lot), I have always found parking easier around the Elysian, it is a bit away from the action on Broadway. Parking at the PCC garage is (strictly speaking) for customers of the building only, I don't know if they monitor it. I guess I would prefer an afternoon session (better light!). One upspoken alternative would be the Big Time Brewery in the U District. Parking is free on the UW campus (short block away) after noon on Saturdays, all day on Sundays.
 
I think there are two - at least - maybe three people who can't do the 11th. How about the last Saturday of February, then? Let's go way out so people can kind of work it in. Of course, then our Olympia member will possibly not be able to make it, but there will be sacrifices. 😀

February 18th or 25th - those are the choices, then.

Big Time . . . no U-district. Possible, but I always feel weird parking on the campus. I went there, and they didn't invite me back for my gradschool. They hate me.

No really, that might be OK, a little walking though, not as easy as a simple parking lot/bar/resuraunt/whatever deal.

Big Time at the mouth of the 520 in Redmond - about 10 minutes outside Seattle on the 520 going East - that has lots of parking. THIS IS A PIZZA PLACE, NOT A BEER PLACE. The one in the U-District is a beer place.

Or . . . if you want the best beer in the city and probably the world 🙄 , make the Trek out to Redhook Brewery. That is a bit extreme, I know.



Let's just settle the day and time, then work on where.

Any date but the 11th is fine with me.

U-Dist = ugh, unless we HAVE to (though the Big Time is the best of my least fav seattle area).

I agree with Robhar and again suggest the Hales Ales Brewpub It's outstanding beer and a nice place to hang out. With easy parking nearby.

Moving on to a venue. . . .

We have : Hales Ales, Elysian, Brouwers, etc etc. All I require is a place with good beer on tap. I tend to pick the Elysian but that is only because i know it. Hales Ales looks pretty sweet too.

Shall we say it is between Elysian and Hales Ales?

Parking is paramount - so whatever we choose, let it have a parking lot (preferably free and legal).

There is a pic of Hales Ales from Space attached, See and guess about parking. Looks better than the Elysian that I know. The building is 4301 Leary Way. Go to Google, maps, and install "Google Earth". It is great for this type of thing. I use it all the time.

check it out. We have a couple weeks to figure it out. But the date is set. Hopefully.

I am for Hales, because I'd like to see a new place, actually, and any time of day is OK on Saturday, except before noon. 2pm is fine, 5 is fine, 7, 9, etc. Daylight helps, though. And the 18th is our chosen day.

18th, Hales, any time.

can we expect the rest of that initial list is also for Hales and the 18th?

So far, it looks like Hales Ales on the 18th, early afternoon.
 
Late afternoon of the 18th, say 4 or 5pm works for me. Hard to justify a pint earlier than that... I ride a motorcycle, so parking's not so much an issue for me. I vote for the Elysian. But Hale's is fine too. And a friend of mine designed Brouwer's, so I like that place too! They have something like 40 microbrews on tap, as I recall.

I'm nowhere near Seattle, but I do hear that there are plenty of good microbreweries around there...if I ever do get up there, I'll have to get together with you guys.
 
I came in late on this, but I live just north of the Seattle city limits. I will try to make it wherever the folks decide. Super Bowl weekend is best avoided, as there will be a lot of drunk people careening around regardless of the outcome. 🙂
