Sebastiao Salgado

Salgado seems to be quite divisive on here and Photrio whenever he's mentioned.

For what it's worth I like his work, and for me his approach has been consistent from Other Americas through to Genesis.
I don't find him exploitative in the way that perhaps Steve McCurry is for instance.
 
I did not like the book Genesis, the pix were over processed to the point of looking fake, Salgado has passed from a documentary photographer to a commercial one, granted the pix look good but it does not tell us anything about the plight of the Indians, now the books are just a way to make money. The first books yes, they were great each picture you could see a story in each one , now good pix but nothing else, and for over $100.00 per book I am sure , I do not think so, my opinion only.
