Film is the other way
Vince I've a 15x10 monitor set to 1440x900 and the entire page still has to be scrolled. I know the images on the first page didn't have the dimensions I'm currently seeing on this page. Anyway the comment's not specifically aimed at you please understand that.
PS have you decided? ;- )

Those images aren't large at all. Your browser's probably zoomed in for text size increase?
I woud suggest that those were nearly the perfect size images to post and still see some detail in finer areas.

I'm using a (almost) 10 year old Inspiron 8000 Pentium III with a 1600x1200 screen. No problems here. I normally link to images that are 1024 across.
My M9 should be here next week. All paid for by selling Film Cameras. But I have plenty left.

Well-known
Vince, I'm psyched you have the M9. Always great to see what happens when capable equipment is matched with a capable person. Looking forward to more of your shots...

Thanks guys -- As far as the sizing goes, most of these shots posted are about 9"x14" @ 72dpi.
Here is one that's a bit smaller - hopefully this will help.
Just shot this one tonight at a local restaurant -- 35/1.7 Voigtlander wide open at ISO 1000.

My M5s need red dots!
I'm glad you like it, Vince! Yours truly will wait until the M9 makes it to the used block... with some years on its back. My only digitals are Nikon (D700 and P7000) and that's more than enough. But I envy your being able to use Leica glass on a digital machine...
Congratulations!
Congratulations!

... likes film again.
More from the Hektor 73/1.9 , please !!
73/1.9 Hektor wide open, ISO 400. Really like the way the edges are rendered.

I'll try to do more Hektor shots this weekend - as well as the Mountain Elmar!
Here's another from last night's dinner at Charleston Restaurant in Baltimore.

sure, and it's the car not the driver... ;D
So you're obviously liking it. How do you deal with the "either or" situation, ie "do I pick up my Mk II 5D or do I pick up my M9?" or do you haul both along?
Robert IIRC you have an M9 too?

Well right now I haven't been carrying them both around, as the recent commercial assignments have been more directed to using the D700 (product shots, food shots, architectural interiors). I think that jobs that require more available light journalism, or environmental portraiture, or quieter/more discreet situations, I'll lean more towards the M9. As far as the personal work goes, I never use the D700, so it will be the M9 all the way (and the film cameras too).

Got it!
btw: about my confusion I didn't realize you carried a D700.

Yes, the D700 is my commercial 'go to' camera, and I think the M9 will dovetail nicely with it.
Couldn't resist another beauty shot of the M9 with the Mountain Elmar. KEH had a 4.25" finder (about 107mm) for $19 -- it's nice and small, and it works great as a viewfinder for this lens.
Got the Zhou case in the mail last week, and am loving that too!

i just did what the title says.
sold some film cameras and waiting for the local dealer to have in stock some M9.
Still can't decide if i want a black or a chrome one. either way i can't sleep at night.

I went for the Black one. Glad I did.
And it was worth selling some of my cameras to get it.
I also traded an Olympus OM-1 and some lenses for a Contax IIa last week. I still have a lot of film cameras.

If me i would sell less and get a M8, until the m10 comes up, and them probably get the m9 second hand is the price seems fair. 7000 is to much for digital for me.
Vince Lupo
Whatever
I thought of an M8, but the crop factor would have driven me nuts, so I saved for the camera that I really wanted. Ultimately, I wanted a 50 to be a 50, a 35 to be a 35, and a 73 to be a 73. Maybe I'm just too old school.
Everyone keeps talking about this mythical M10 -- unfortunately it doesn't currently exist, and might not exist for several years. It only exists on 'rumors' sites, and when it finally (who knows when) gets introduced, are people then going to say "well, just wait for the M11"? I gave up waiting, and I'm really happy I did....but that's just me!

I'm with Vince Lupo on this.
I am pretty sure some of us when wanted an M8 said: "i will wait for the M9" (i know i did) and now are saying "i will wait for the M10"
TBH i don't think there is much to upgrade in the M9 so i would want something more than what the camera already has.
inb4 better high iso. imo 1600 iso is way to high for iso speed. i had the D700 and never wanted to go above 1600. so i sold it
I'll be pissed if they want to add live view, auto cleaning stuff and lots of gadgets i don't want in my way when i take pictures.
