I used to live in that area several years back. Didn't think there was anything wrong with the area. Just jerks like you with your theorems
Pro-Mone,
Did you ever have any negative experiences or run ins in the lower 70's in the Upper Eastside near a certain private school?
These entitled kids support MFM's theorems.
Over the decades NYC surely has changed. In one manner the level of privilege and entitlement is hitting new highs.
Did you ever wonder where these kids learn this behavior? Might not be genetic.
When they block the sidewalks, and I say "Excuse me," I get a dirty look or ignored. Does not matter if they are little kids or teenagers. They have money, but no class.
These kids are rude. My bad experiences are not chance encounters and are pretty consistent.

I get negative experiences all the time on account of my skin color. I was just inside a sweetgreen a few weeks ago in line and the lady behind the counter decided to bypass me and ask the guy behind me what he wanted. Then looked at me and apologized saying she didn't see me. This was Astor Place of all locations. And no. I know the neighboorhood you are talking about and have not had any negative experiances. I've seen kids being kids but I see that everywhere. Harlem, upper eastside wherever. Doesn't bother me. What bothers me is blanket statements like what I responded to

Pro-Mone,
Being invisible surely sucks. I know that feeling too.
To me it does not happen all the time, but those times I do remember strongly and profoundly. In a way they get amplified. No doubt that there are very telling patterns of underlaid behavior.
On a brighter note, today it was raining and instead of walking to work I decided to take the bus. I kinda vaguely remember that I needed to refill my Metrocard, but I waited at the bus stop anyways instead of walking to the subway.
When I board the bus my suspicion was confirmed: my Metrocard was empty; but the bus driver motioned me to board anyways.
How cool is that. It seems about 90% of the time in situations like this I get a nod to pass while not having to pay the fare. Don't tell Mayor DeBlasio or the MTA.

Today "Maggie" is flying to North Dakota to have a meeting involving Native Americans as a Social Worker. She'll be back by the weekend.
It seems the Kate "Shovel" Runway Show got a lot of press because of Maggie's inclusion. It created a big buzz of sorts.
I gave the subtle mention of how excited I am about the new SL2. I kinda came across like a 5 year old in behavior as far as baiting the trap. Over the weekend we had baby-girl, a five year old, and I observed a lot of her behavior. Baby-Girl always kinda gets her way with "Coco."
So this is my ploy: act like an excited 5 year old. Separately yesterday Maggie sent me an e-mail thanking me for all the support I give to her. Hmmm...
Might take a while, but my hope is a new SL2 for being a good 5 year old. Know that I use to be a real drama queen/performance artist.
Interesting some of the feedback on the DP Review link that John posted elsewhere. The haters are already gathering. One poster says that four M-lenses: the 28 Lux, 50 APO Cron, the 50/0.95 Noctilux, and 75/1.2 Noctilux are better lenses than the SL native lenses.
Perhaps as far as speed goes surely three out of the four are faster, but all the fast primes that are native SL lenses built by Leica are all APO and if you read the reviews are more perfect and highly corrected.
If anything the "L" mount has less restrictions and allows performance to open up. Jono Slack compared the APO 50 Cron-M to the new APO 50 Cron-L and the "L" mount was deemed the better lens.
Also the "L" mount APO has this contrast enhancement of the in focus areas that heightens perceived sharpness with a very smooth OOF and pretty bokeh in their rendering. I know from my printing how contrast effects perceived contrast.

I viewed the celeb lineup from NYC Fashion Week on the "Wonder Wall."
I know that "Maggie" attended some of these same shows outlined in the profile that accompanied each of the 87 shots knowing that these big time celebs get seated "front row-center" exactly where Maggie gets seated.
No shots of Maggie though. I at least knew she was there.

Time?
The 8th annual Photoville will be held between September 12 till September 22d.
The first Sunday is September 15th. I prefer the 15th over the second Sunday the 22d.
Unless someone has a reason not to make it on the 15th, let's pencil in the 15th.
Lets "Meet-Up" at the Car-O-Sell like last year.

Joe,
One sounds good to me. The weather looks to be good. I think I might walk from East Harlem to Dumbo in the morning. I'll likely be there early.
I wonder if Leica will have an APO 35 Cron-L or APO 50 Cron-L I can try out.
I'm thinking I'll rig out the CL with 50 Lux-L for 75mm FOV and mount my 28 Cron-M on my SL to have a long short pair.
"Maggie" is returning from her excursion to North Dakota tonight. Perhaps I relate too much to the Native American's history that Maggie shared with me.

I walked from 101st and Lex to Photoville in 2 hours 40 minutes. I got there early well before 12 when they opened.
Had the opportunity to borrow an APO 35 Cron-SL from John Kreider the Leica Technical Specialist for the Leica "S" and SL.
The enhanced contrast from the APO is rather dramatic. The images are very sharp, yet have some of the smoothest OOF of any lens. Think Noctilux. Also the rendering is rather sculptural with some real depth.
When I showed "Maggie" the results she asked, "How much does it cost?"
So far my performance, acting like an excited 5 year old, seems to be working. Perhaps I'll be awarded one day for being a good boy. LOL.
So now the dilema is do I want a new SL2 or a 35 Cron more?
I got no insider smut about the SL2, so in my case a delay is likely a great thing because I don't have the money.
Also it was great to see Ben from Philly, and Fidel and Dunstan from New Jersey.

Fidel,
How odd.
I have bad gas for that APO 35 Cron.
It seems that "Maggie" is going to hose me with some paying gigs.
Also in December is a "free" luxury vacation on a river cruise up the Rhine: Ansterdam; 6-7 stops in Germany; and an ending in Switzerland.
I'll have to do performance art and act like a rich guy. "Maggie" says we will have our own butler. It kinda feels weird being treated like I'm special because I know I'm just a thug. Nothing special.

Fidel,
I'm already "Maggie's" slave. Not so great a position. Pretty much I'm her ontourage, personal assistant, mule, photographer...
These luxury vacations are rather surreal and the extravagance is absurd. Not the real world, more like visiting another planet.
