Yes. The building owners received $112 millions. Good reason to call it quits. Wouldn't you?

The 27th it tis.
This weekend coming up I'll be developing mucho film with Beagle-Face while Maggie is away.
Yesterday I picked up my Panerai from the Time Machine after it got serviced. Set me back $930.00, and on top of that I ordered a new rubber strap for use with my deployment. Forgot how ghetto big this watch is. My watch is a monster and looks especially big on my skinny girly wrist. Maggie calls it a weapon because of its size.
I use to say, "If my Panerai GMT is good enough for President Bill Clinton, its good enough for me, but Maggie says it is really the other way around."
Maggie says, "If its good enough for Calvin: its good enough for President Bill Clinton, and BTW you are the better man."
Anyways I'm wearing my bankster watch again. My cheap Rolex is on an autowinder (Sub "No-Date").

Bob,
A while back we did a Stay-cation because of Baby-Dog, AKA Beagle-Face, and went to Ho-Bo-Ken. I was surprised on how suburban that community was, and I kinda felt outa place. Too clean and sanitized for me.
It seems among the fashion photographers that follow Maggie's blog that we enjoy a lot of notoriety. First off they are kinda amazed that I shoot a D3X with a Noct-Nikkor; then they kinda figured out that I musta went to art school because of the technic and composition. There are many remarks about the work being "editorial" whatever that means. They are pretty amazed that I can manually focus action shots and get sharp pictures.
I think me being an urban street shooter and urban landscape shooter adds something to the tone. Maggie's followers seem to like the edgy gritty locations the best. Like Andre Dos Santos once said, "The uglier: the better."
We have a possible way in to a book deal via a friend/photographer who will have his second book published in May. Repeatedly Arri tells us that we should edit the shots we have and then he can pass it on to his publisher.
Seems like Maggie has become some role model in China, and she is within striking distance of getting 20K followers which is where one gets solicited for advertising.

Goodness I miss the City.
Good food, public transit, the ability to hustle photos or bike gigs or whatever to scare up some cash when needed.
Life is hard in the country.

The 27th isn't workable for me. It's been awhile since I've been and I'd love to come again. I hope to see you all in October.
For a gear update, I've been collecting Mamiya Press lenses and bodies. Yesterday I took receipt of maybe the biggest hunk of glass I've ever seen. Filter size is 105mm

Phil,
By chance I snagged an titanium version of an Ibis Mountain Trials through a second chance bid. I still have a steel version of this bike that I originally bought in 1989 when mountain biking was new.
Anyways I'm getting ready and setting up the bike for racing as a rigid bike single speed. I've got the itch to race again. Right now I have it set up as an urban single speed to do intervals climbing the Harlem Hills in Central Park. Already I lost over 10 pounds and weigh in at 145 pounds at 5'10".
I figure next year I'll start racing again, and going single speed will limit my aggressiveness so I don't get too crazy. Currently the bike weighs 19 pounds with extra heavy Schwalbe Big Apple tires like that are on CitiBikes. I'll loose almost 2 pounds with a kelvar tire change and lite tubes. I'm thinking with some additional changes I'll get the bike to sub 16 1/2 pounds, but with racing mountain bike tires (Rapid Ron's) I'll have to add back half a pound.
BTW this Ibis is very aggressive with a 24 inch rear wheel and a 26 inch in the front. The wheelbase is mighty short and the steering twitchy due to a steep headtube angle. I always wanted a lighter version of this bike and now my dream came true. Somehow by divine intervention I got a titanium version of this bike that likely was a custom order/one-off long after production of this bike was ceased.
I would make the most out of exploiting the New Mexico wilderness on a bike. I just want to be like a bike bum again and live to ride and explore.

Please. Any decent deli food too. Something from Katz's would be great.
We've had such a difficult time out here due to all sorts of circumstances. Now we have a very sick cat that has maxed out a credit card and her future care to ensure her survival is sapping us dry.

Cal, I only wish I could get out on my mountain bike. Bethanne and I now take walks to take our trash down the county road to the dumpster or a little farther to get the mail. Neither of us have the time nor the energy to really do much more. I'd be online, being social and trying to market my photography if we had reliable internet at the house. This month has taxed us so much we can't afford the internet hookup yet and hope to get by 'til October 1st with what little we have left. That first month is always the roughest and this sick cat happened to coincide with it. Actually, it was September 11 that our cat came out of surgery with a fair prognosis and a feeding tube sticking out of her neck. Anyway, we both get about 3-4 hours of sleep at a time between her feeding/medication cycle every 6 hours. I can't wait to get on a bike, either mountain or just my touring bike to ride a century down the road. Until ZeeLa (the cat) gets well, that's just not an option. Hopefully we'll be able to make the Balloon Fiesta during sometime at the beginning of October but Albuquerque is a 3 hour drive away and we'd have to stay at my parent's house overnight to get to the balloon field by 4:30am while having a responsible amount of sleep to drive the night before. Again, only if the cat is well. Until then, we're both full-time caregivers, no longer an artist and a photographer moving to a life of quiet we need to concentrate on our crafts. I'm not working and Bethanne isn't painting right now because of our concern for ZeeLa. Wish us and especially the cat, luck!
Someone go to Molly's Pub on 1st Ave and 22nd to have a burger with bacon & cheddar, cooked medium along with two pints of Guinness. Tell me how it is and say hello to Big Tony or Tom for me.
Thanks all!

Phil,
Baby-Dog has cost us over $3K over the last 3 1/2 months. A big part of the rescue is exercising him in a military manner. On the street I have to muzzle him because he already bit my neighbor while "Maggie" was locking up our apartment. Luckily that incident didn't get reported because he already has two reported bitings and there is that rule: three strikes and you are out.
Anyways he is already a famous dog because he is mighty good looking and a very muscular 14 pounds. He is a Narci-Dog who knows how good looking he is, and he walks around like he is a high fashion model or a Runway-Dog striking poses. I think he thinks he is Brad Pitt. This dog is a chick magnet. LOL.
My new Ibis is like owning a Porshe. What crazy responsive performance and handling. I hope everything settles in soon for you and Bethany.

Interesting that the Pope is coming to my hood. I see mucho preparation in Central Park, but really no clean up in Spanish Harlem.

Just got an e-mail from KEH, they are listing a EX+ D3x for under $1700!
That's just crazy...
And just after I picked one up at B&H for a bunch more.

Joe,
Brutal.
I'm happy with my USA D3X that had under 5K accuations and came boxed. I figure I'll be shooting this camera for a long time.
I'm waiting for some parts as I monsterize my new Ti Ibis Mountain Trials hot rodding my bike. I'm a weight weenie so I expect my mountain bike to be 17-17 1/2 pounds with the diet I've put on it with all high performance trick parts.
Yesterday did some interval training doing my loop on the Harlem Hills in Central Park. Pretty funny accelerating up the hills passing young people half my age walking their bikes, passing others crawling and struggling lamely up the climb, and especially catching up with some road bikes that used their gears to pass me on the downhill sections and passing them on my retro single speed to the top. I'm pushing 63 gear inches and kinda spin out on the downhills.
My Ibis is basically optimized for climbing and for getting up out of the saddle. I just bought a retro chrome Tange fork off EBAY.
Also I developed some film: 120 Acros in Rodinal with minimized aggitation; and 135 Pan F and Acros developed with Microphen with minimized aggitation for a compensating effect as well as minimizing grain. I figure that because I shoot digital that I need to bump IQ by limiting myself to only slow speed films. I know that I can print bigger and with higher IQ digitally with my Piezography systems. Also I think soon I will store my 3880 with Piezoflush and then commission the 7800 as my printer.
The next stage would be convert my 3880 into a color printer since I have the D3X.

Bob,
The Pope will be visiting a Catholic school on East 112th Street called "Our Lady Queen of Angels" at 4:00 PM on Friday. In Central Park I have seen the fortifications while taking Beagle-Face for his daily long walk.
Basically "El Papa" will pass within a block of my home, and directly pass the "Church of the Holy Agony" just down the block; and also what I call a "ghetto-buster" (new building) that use to be called the "Emerson" on Third Avenue that now is called the "Arthouse" to attract hipsters that neighbors on a halfway house that formally was called "The Parole Transition Institute." Today the halfwayhouse has a more transparent name as to not label and stigmatize all the ex felons that are concentrated and hanging out on Third Avenue right by the "Arthouse."
My central location is probably not as bad as when I lived in Long Island City where I could take the Q100 bus to visit an inmate at Rikers. Know that Queens Plaza is where Riker's Island inmates are released. I remain within walking distance to the facility on Ward's Island where NYC's criminally insane are held. One time I was walking by that facility and I heard screaming as if I was hearing someone being physically tortured.
The Pope is doing his fly-by, but I live in the world that he is just visiting. I currently live literally a block away from where Bruce Davidson shot the horrible poverty in the late 60's on East 100th Street.
