First Experience

First Experience

I am using an RD1 for the first time having been very kindly lent one by a friend (thanks Peter ). Now I realize what all the fuss is about. The camera is just so much fun to use, I bonded with it immediately . Last Sunday I went for an early morning photo walk with my 13 year old son around 'The Rocks', an area between Circular Quay and the Harbour Bridge in Sydney. Unfortunately he thought the plan was to go to 'rocks' as in breaking waves etc. and was rather disappointed. Still we had pancakes for breakfast which made up for it a bit and I've promised him we'll go to 'rocks' this weekend. Here are a couple of JPEGS from the morning, all taken with a 35mm 'cron v4.

6Mp enough? Depends on what you intend using if for. For my personal use I would say it is more than enough.

This image has a "surprising" nature to it. The plane jutting into the frame like that is unusual, and the beauty created by the colors and sharp detail, make the image surreal. I like it a lot. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks. I guess it was worth the 10km bike ride
Used a Jupiter-12. I think F8, 200 ISO, 250 or 500 shutter, can't remember.

I just got an R-D1. After spending a year or so of only shooting film, I thought I'd give digital another try. I have a Fuji X-E1, but it didn't really give me that pleasure of my Leicas. Now, the R-D1 does! It's incredible, a digital camera that feels like a film one. I shot these at ISO 800, I think they look beautiful. I'm amazed that a camera that is so old by digital standards can bring such a big smile to my face.

These were both shot with a Voigtlander Ultron 28mm.
