Hi guys/gals
How come I'm automatically logged out so fast?
Sometimes I can't type a message fast enough to post before I have to make another log in first.
Best regards

Do you click the 'Remember me' option while logging in?

Are you using a decent web browser? Chrome is pretty solid for me.

No I don't use the "remember me" option.
Hmm Explorer something....new version..... I think. But its been the same problem for as long as I can remember.

Søren,
Try using the 'Remember me' option, and whilst Internet Explorer is perfectly decent, you could try using Chrome or Firefox just to see if the problem goes away.

Cheers

Garry

Internet Explorer is known to have problems on RFF for some members. FireFox, Chrome, and Safari work reliably.

Short time before i have to sign in again

If i am cruising the boards and i answer a post, even a short answer, i will invariably have to sign in again. Is there a way to stay in the threads without getting kicked quickly?

Sounds like you need to allow your browser to allow cookies. An over-aggressive commercial antivirus/firewall program will also block or "protect you" from cookies by sites it doesn't know are safe --depends on how strong you've got those options.

This was reported just this morning by another user, so it's possible it's not your computer at fault. However, make sure you check the 'remember me' box when you sign in, and also try another web browser.

I'm assuming you're using Internet Explorer on Windows, perhaps try Chrome instead.

nope, im using chrome and the box is checked.

I think the cookies thing might be the answer. i'm going to allow cookies for the site. i've got all kinds of do not track, no cookies and other stuff and i quit using google all together because i didn't like the idea they were tracking me. got nothing to hide and i don't visit porn sites but its none of their business what i do and where i go. end rant. thank.
let me try the cookies think, thanks

ok i just checked the cookie thing and i had already allowed cookies for this site - so maybe thats not it. I have IE 10 but i don;t like using it because some pages will not even render right and boxes will not appear. i don't know what wrong with it. maybe i need to do a refresh and start over with i.e which is what was installed whn i got this thing.

If you want a "clean" start and don't want to figure out what's causing trouble in Chrome, try Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/) - for me it's just as fast as Chrome these days, plus it's not owned by Google or any other company. And you still have access to a great deal of extensions, plus good built-in privacy features.

This always happens to me too if the answer takes more than a few minutes, whether in Firefox on the desktop that I have been using for years, or at the moment away from home in Chrome on an Android tablet :bang:

my mistake, i am using Firefox. I get the two mixed up. I don't use any google stuff.

(even more interesting, the timer says I've been here 31 minutes and I haven't had to sign in again. this is like when you take your car to the dealer and say its making a funny noise but it doesn't do it while at the dealer. go figure...)

I need a drink....
or a smoke...

Happens to me all the time here on RFF.
I frequent another site that also uses V Bulletin but don't have the problem there.
