Good thread, will post in due course, out of date FP4 in the camera now.
I used to hate HP3...assume HP5 is something of an improvement?
I'm making the broad assumption that in time the C41 process will dwindle and colour will be better served by digital...black and white, on the other hand, will carry on almost as a 'craft'.

Ilford FP4 cooked in Perceptol at 1 to 1 is superb, I use Zeiss glass on 6cmx6cm and the details are in my opinion superb. I rate the film at 80 ASA.
I used FP4 and thought it was low quality stuff, someone told me about the Perceptol and words can not express what changes I saw. Not a low cost juice but it is consistant, if you are.

HP5+ (medium format), developed in DD-X 1+4 9min @ 20c. I used DD-X exclusively for my first few years, but have changed to ID-11 for economy, with pleasing results.

I've mostly moved over to Ilford since Fuji discontinued Neopan 400 in 120.
Initially I found HP5 to be awful and grainy in Rodinal, but have since moved over the HC-110 and am very happy with the results.
As stated earlier in the thread I too feel that as a small, dedicated film manufacturer Ilford may be our best chance of seeing it's production continued long after the bigger corporations have lost interest. Besides the plant where the 120 film is made is only about an hour from my house, so I like to think I'm supporting the local economy in some way.

I started to use FP4 and really like its smooth tones and sharpness.

Gotta say I'm getting more confident about Ilford being a possible replacement if my beloved APX 100 stocks run out or Kodak bite the dust and Tri-X or T-max prices go sky high.
Not seeing too much pleasing results from Rodinal except for a single shot on FP4 with Rodinal 1:25.
Also one shot of HP5+ pushed to 1600 that looks real good.

I use the three traditional Ilford films all the time:
MP / 28/2.0 ASPH / PanF+ / 021 filter / DD-X 1:4
M7 / 50/1.4 ASPH / FP4+ / 021 filter / HC-110b
M7 / 35/1.4 pre-ASPH / HP5+ / 021 filter / HC-110b
