I set aside my nikon d3 today and worked with just the M8, CV 35mm f2.5 and 90mm Summicron. My neck and back thank me. I had a bit of trepidation even though I've shot with RF cameras for years; I've rarely shot paid assignments with my leicas just because I've been more comfortable with my Nikons and before today had only owned a digital leica briefly (the first one had sensor issues and was sent back, took me 1.5 years before I finally got to pick up another). It was fun and I'll definitely do it again. I do need a wider angle lens; the 35mm was a bit restrictive on the crop body. Saving up for the 25mm Zeiss right now.

Photos can be found on the newspapers website (I have to wait until they run in print before I can post them elsewhere)

The newspaper's website isn't the greatest for photos (they're upgrading it in the next few weeks) but I wanted to share! I'll definitely be shooting more assignments with the Leica. Waiting for a third IR filter to show up in the mail still. Overall I'm pleased. I also shot a concert last night - photos here (attached photo with 50mm summicron, no filter)

It handled the show like a champ. I seem to be able to shoot at lower ISO's than with my Nikons at similar f-stop; I think the transmission stop is better with the Leica and CV primes.

Great shots! My first two years of PJ school I shot exclusively with the CV 35; I keep considering seeking out a faster replacement, but it's been my go-to for longer than I can remember. I was shooting an event with my Nikon today and couldn't stop thinking about how much better RFs are for that sort of work.

Thanks. It was very enjoyable. Thought less about the equipment and more about the photo. I also had less "mugging" for the camera from folks while I wandered around. A lot less obtrusive than the D3. At the club, it was a nice and small setup that made it easier to get around all the people that were packed in for the show. When I shoot there with my D3 and lenses, the bag gets in the way and causes problems.
