Should I? 35/21mm for 35mm

I keep coming back to the idea of getting an M-Hexanon 21-35 dual lens. Size doesnt bother me. What did and still kinda does is it's speed : 3.4-4.0. If I would go for it, I'd probably give up my M-Hexanon 35/2, which is a fantastic and rather hard to find lens. But since I have CV 35/1.2 and CV 35/1.7, I suppose I could live with a slower dual lens.
So, my question is - should I do it? I'd really like to hear from owners/users of Hex 21-35mm lens or similar. But of course everyone's opinion is welcome on this one. Price difference is not a factor here, btw.
 
My suggestion is buy a cheap cv21 lens. Normally I go out with a 28/50 pair. and in some cases when I suppose I need something wider, I replace the 28 with a 21.
 
As the owner of 5 Hex M and LTM lenses, the dual is on my "wanted" list. I'd love it for my hiking trips as part of a 2 lens kit along with a 50. The speed would not be a problem for me but I would never finance it's purchase by flogging off one of the Hex's. I know I would regret it. Get the Hex and keep the 35.

Well, I'd like to keep it all, but I'll have to have some funds to come from some place. 😉 Plus If I kept Hex 35/2, AND got 21/35 - that would make it 4 35mm lenses in my collection. And I know I do want to to keep CV 35/1.2 for sure. Selling Ultron wouldnt help much to finance dual Hex anyway - thats why I thought that most logical choice would be selling Hex 35/2.
I also do have ZM 21/2.8 to cover my really wide lens needs, yet 21-35mm lens sounds like such a nice and convinient lens to have. What to do, what to do? 😉
 
I sold a Hex 35 only to get a UC Hex 35.
I would never let go of the 35.
You are better of with what you have, unless none of your clothes have pockets and you are unable to carry a small kit bag!
 
Didn't Roger Hicks do a review of that lens some time back in Shutterbug, or is there another dual lens?

Maybe he can enlighten you on using the lens, or you can find the review (if that is indeed the lens). I don't own a camera that would use such a lens, and am not a big fan of 35mm focal length if I can get something wider. But if I was, I would prefer two lenses rather than only one that cost an arm and a leg and a first born male child. YMMV.
 
How often do you use a 21?
I mean, how often do you need the 21 so urgently that you would like just to turn a ring and be there, and switch back and forth to the 35, instead of reaching another camera?

On the other hand how often do you get in and out a building, thus requiring f/2.

I just got myself the 35 M-Hex, and it's a beauty. I have a soft spot for f/2 lenses for anything longer than 28 so I would never go the route you propose.

With the price difference between the 35 Hex and the dual, I think you can buy a VC 21, and a body (IIIf for example, or a bessa l)
But maybe that's because I'm under the spell of my new M-hex.😎
 
Thanks for your input, everyone. I pretty much decided to stay with my M-Hex 35. Its an awsome lens and hard to find one too. Plus its faster too. I do like a 21mm lens and one I have is probably the best one out there for the price - ZM 21/2.8. I was thinking to get a Hex 21-35 for travel (plus it's a bit of a collector thing too), but as it is usually more expensive, I would've needed to sell something. I may still get one if I find one at a good price, but I'll keep what I have for now. I wish I could try one out though, to see if I even like it in real use.
