i love it.

Occasionally and with care.
It has become so difficult to get quality film processing near me, that I mostly shoot my older lenses on an RD-1 or an M8.

I can tell from the aperture ring that the lens was at f/16 during the shot. I was worried for a bit that the fast lens pointed skyward might turn your Canon 7 into a pinhole camera.

Ahah! I momentarily forgot that this camera has a metal shutter, so a pinhole is much less likely anyway. To do penance, I'll try to get my gear up on display soon. Sorry for the noise, Dan.

Good points, Don. Although the sun was not directly overhead, I didn't leave it there for long.

Uh oh, my heart is broken, I have to part with my little beauty. The black QL17-L has to go and finance my digital revolution.

Nice Canon you have, sad to see someone go over to the "other" side .

Well.. I started with digital, after some years got my dad's old Pentax SLR, then bought a medium format TLR, then this Canonet, and then.. Well, I have way too many cameras, even Epson R-D1, but still all the time I've shot digital and film side by side.

Digital revolution for me means moving into a full format SLR (the original 5D), as before this I've always shot with 1,5x and 1,6x cropped cameras. When I was in the army, I always had a Canonet with me, and it really was an eye opener, I got so "three dimensional" photos with the QL17's 40/1.7 lens. With smaller sensor cameras I can't get that quality. It's about the right field of view mixed with right kind of shallow depth of field.

Few examples:

salminen taking it easy
especially in this one it almost looks like his hand would pop out of the picture

supponen wasn't too happy of his job in the ten day exercise

Luckily I will have my another QL17 even after selling this. And the Epson will be my wideangle camera, equipped with 15mm Heliar. That way it's possible to shoot fast paced action without worrying about changing lenses or something, Epson on the left shoulder and 5D on the right.

Oh and sorry for the off-topic.. I just had to praise this little camera even more.

Here is my soon to be sold QL17 - like Lotari - I'm raising cash for an M8....and have a very long way to go!
