Canon LTM Show off your Canon RF

Hi all, I'm new to the group!
Went to a flea-market last Saturday and spotted a cardboard box full of "plastic-fantastics". The seller told me I can cart the whole thing off if I gave him $20.

Doubtful that the whole thing is worth $10, I rummaged inside. Then my fingers felt something solid and cold (plastics ain't cold). Lifting the camera, my heart almost skipped a beat, it's an old black Canon camera (mostly metal).

"Could it be...!??"

yes, it's a rangefinder!

Went home almost immediately and discovered that I just got my first Canon RF!

Maybe "lowly" from you guys' standard, but I'm amazed with the result from the first roll I put through it. Not bad for $4 (yes, I haggled for 10 minutes with the vendor who eyed me suspiciously wondering why I would only take this camera from the lot 😉 )

Jon, that's BBBIIIGGG. Is your Jupiter 2/85 focussing correctly ? My starts to be "off" (sharp zone behinde motive) at ~8m and closer.

Mine focuses correctly though the viewfinder - I'm not a hyperfocal distance guy so I don't know if the scales work. Maybe I'm just lucky with my J-9?

I picked up a Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens on ebay last night. I've heard it is an outstanding lens.

Anybody care to comment on its quality?

Congratulations, Colyn! The 50/1.4 is a greatly admired lens. I have only shot mine wide open because it had a broken diaphragm blade and I had to remove the diaphragm. The bokeh seems very good indeed. The diaphragm blades are shaped so as to give an almost perfectly round iris at all apertures.

Sharpest lens I've ever shot with.
