It is a lovely lens but when I had one I found the aperture markings very hard to read.

I have yet to try out my recently acquired 1936 IIIa with 1934 f3,5 5cm Elmar, but hopefully I'll be out and about next week, given that the Covid-19 restrictions are now being eased.
I did try to upload a photo of the camera, but I couldn't get it to appear, so I can't show it to you.

Thanks for that. I saw what I thought was a way to upload directly to the forum and tried using that, without success but, as I have a Flickr account, I can easily do it using that. Here is my camera. I also have an AGFA Silette, but then that's not a rangefinder camera.

I have this little beauty, unfortunately it sits in the cupboard waiting patiently to be repaired. Has a hole in the curtain - tried to fill it up with some black paint but still some light seeps throught. Also recently it developed a grinding noise when advancing the film.
Photography funds are scarce at this point in time in our household so it will have to wait a bit more....

Got it through Ebay, some Chinese brand named "Funper". Strap came from a British leather shop.
I'd love a Luigi Crescenzi one, but it's hard to justify the price.

The original leica's leather cases can be easily used as half case, also with a simple adaptation, but it's leitz not chinese neither Crescenzi's expansive diamonds...

If you really can't stand the bottom half of the bag, as countless small or great photographers have done in the past, you can have it removed by a good craftsman.

I have a box of old Leica cases and whenever I can be bothered I put some up on Ebay. They don't sell for much (unless they are for the II).
I reckon the ones where the flap has fallen off fetch more than those that are still intact and complete!

I personally wouldn't trust the 80-year old strap on a Leica II case, though.

Yes, exactly true of the weird attitude of bidders.
I reckon the best way to get a silly (high) price is to price high for the opening bid, add "spare or repairs" and then wait for the bidding war to start. To add to the fun watch how the same make and model with all receipts and a low price despite the recent service might just - if they are lucky - fetch the opening price.
