Leica LTM Show off your Leica I/II/III/LTM Camera

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Cheers guys! This Model E came from a Dutch expat in Sweden who had it sitting in a display case for some 10 years.

Shot a few frames with it yesterday.

Got this massively brassed "Mountain" Elmar in the mail yesterday.
Looks nice with all the other black and/or nickel-finish glass and one of my Leica II cameras.

Finished with patching the shutter curtain, it is in pretty sad state really but at least it seems to be light tight at the moment.

I am concerned about the extra weight of the curtain now, it doesn't seem to be capping at the time being - at least to my eye. I've loaded a film to check.

Is that shiny stuff the patching material? Otherwise it looks like the rubber is turning into a gooey mess. It's happening one of my IIIc cameras. It's due for a curtain replacement.

I've never seen this on the prewar Leicas.

More and more I become convinced that the pre-war series Leica I, II, III and IIIa are technically better cameras than the c and f series. It is a lot more work to open them, but usually the condition of the parts is surprisingly good.

Erik.

Yes, this is the liquid tape. Large areas of the curtain start becoming brittle so input a thin layer to support it. Because it is liquid it has sipped through. I am shooting a film now to check how it works.

Am I right in thinking that pre war blind material has a finer weave and is consequently smoother?

Recently got this Leica III BP with Nickel fittings and lens. Needs a CLA which it will get soon. Can't wait to test out the lens. The only 50mm I've had for these was a Summar.

I've got to agree with you and it doesn't only apply to Leicas or even solid things; a lot of software was very good to excellent at first then gradually became more and more cumbersome as - I guess - the sales people insisted that it be updated with new gimmicks each year.

Thanks to lockdown I've been playing with a lot of old stuff I've uncovered or found in the lumber room and wish I could go on using full-time but then the battery problem looms...

Regards, David.

Here's my IIIf. Bought the lens with the camera (broken) attached. Fixed her up myself (dents removed, 3D printed a new eyepiece, adjusted the shutterspeeds, curtain tension, slow speed escape, painted it and a new beamsplitter is on its way!

Very nice! Tell us more about the eyepiece.
Thanks! The plastic trim piece around the rangefinder/viewfinder was missing on this camera - thought it would be rather hard to find a new trim piece so I opted to design one myself and print it on a 3D printer.

For sure, it's not original, but it does the job!

Here's the part: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4837310

Doesn't DAG offer replacement eyepieces? Not sure if he still has them. 3D printing would likely be cheaper ;)

Mooi gefikst Christiaan :)

You've done a beautiful job with that, Christiaan. How long did that project take, start to finish? Sounds like quite an in-depth refurbishment.

Well done!

for others who might need one, nobbysparrow has these, ebay #371858599240

Actually I didn't check with DAG. A friend recently got a new 3D printer and I recently learned some basic 3D modelling. So I thought, why not!!

Bedankt!

The whole process took me about 30 hours. Done in 3 days. Got to keep myself busy :D

I made a small write up on how I performed this little project!
