Nice set Johan, I see the filters have arrived. Is that my old VIOOH in the other post?Leica IIIa from 1938, with SCNOO trigger winder (DIY repair, used a metal tape measure for a ribbon), gray GoatSkin leather, M4 film reminder dial.
Lenses are my 1951 Canon 28mm f3.5 'Korean War' lens and a Leitz New York Velostigmat 50mm f3.5. Komura 28mm finder and clamp-on filters complete this set. 1950's Leitz neckstrap fitted.

Hey Rick,
when you do get a SCNOO, get one cheap with a snapped ribbon. I'll fix yours with a tape measure metal ribbon as well, for free!

my soon to arr9ive IIIC converted to IIIF BDST, I intend to use it with my 5cm f2 summarit and cv 25/4 color skopar
Congrats Mike on finding yourself a very nice looking and unconmmon conversion "Flat Top" IIIC/IIIFBDST - it still has the original Leitz lug rings, very good!
Happy Shooting!

Thanks Tom and thanks for the encouragement, (via pm), which 'pushed' me over the edge towards purchasing this beauty, do you think that it is a leitz factory conversion, also I got it for £169, I feel that is good vaulue and cannot wait to shoot with it

That is for sure an orginal Leitz factory conversion. Btw just came across a very rare and very beautiful factory conversion on the LUF: a converted black IIIc!, I've put the link to the picture here - apart from the black paint, it is the same as yours lxmike:

I saw that over there at the LUF and I would honestly step out and say that, that camera is NOT a factory 1948/49 era Black Paint, (it is an original factory conversion IIIC/IIIFBDST) , but the finish is not smooth or shiny enough as the Leitz factory paint was Nitro Lack and it looks like wet black glass, (this camera looks like a CRR Luton Paint job) ~ plus like the IIIC K's of WW2 the body screws were painted to match the body, this is a non factory paintjob - a beauty nontheless.........
This camera here is most likely to be an original Black Paint IIIC ca. 1948 - the paint is also the same stuff used on the 1948/50 era MOOLY C motors.

I agree Tom, it's quite probably a non factory paint, but the conversion being an original Leitz one. About the picture you have shown, I am almost quite sure the owner of that camera (Erik our fellow member) mentioned that it was painted black at a later stage, but of course Erik might help us out on this one (there is only one original black IIIc known and I doubt it is in his hands)

I still have doubts on this one, altough Ton Scherpenborg (Leica repairman - Leitz trained - since 1958) declared that it is genuine. He opened it for small repairs.
Ton Scherpenborg also remembered that in the past there were at ODIN similar cameras around that were given to customers who had their cameras in repair, so called 'loan cameras', and that these were not marked as such.
I myself doubt on this one because the paint is not strong enough.
Erik.

I'm glad I bought it.

This my Grandpas' Leica IIIf Rd 1952/53 my Dad gave it to me at Christmas having fun with it so far. I have three lenses ( 50mm f2 Summitar, 35mm f3.5 Elmar, and a 90mm f4 Elmar. It's in great condition I had it checked out and they said it was fine to use and didn't need CLA but the Summitar did. I bought the Viooh and a couple lens caps on ebay it's hard to find any Leica stuff here in Montana.
