Congrats with this beautiful classic.
You got to love these pretty Barnacks! What's with the torn film?
Just bits of leader I had just cut to load it. Didn't have scissors, so I had to use a folding knife.
Roll is done, so hopefully I can find out tomorrow if it has any light leaks.

Aha,
so that's the famous uncoated Summitar that gets all those great shots!
Thanks, Johan. Yes, this Summitar is a keeper (I think Huub may regret selling it

I have had the IIIF for a year now and after a trip to see Youxin (cla, new shutter curtains and new beam splitter) it is like he sent me back a brand new camera (I fear I will never own a real new Leica in this lifetime) I gave in to temptation and bought this camera because of the Summicron with no cleaning marks but never thought I would enjoy it so much. I wasted the last 30 years thinking that these cameras were some how the redheaded step child to the M system but my opinion certainly changed by actually using one ...... now if I only had a black one etc....etc.....etc

After years telling myself not to buy one... an old repairman, friend of mine, sold me a chrome III for the price of a full CLA. Could not resist, and I already had a screwmount adapter...
Shown here with a strange 1935 sonnar f2 (in a f1.5 barrel
). Looks like an old hot-rod, small body / fat lens.

Your IIIcK is in good hands Tom
I agree that the 135mm Hektor is a huge beast, the FIKUS makes it worse. I have a similar lens from 1946, but rarely find I need it.
Leica IIIa (1937-38), factory upgrade with IIIf flash controls, SCNOO rapidwinder, Goatskin, ROSOL viewfinder and 50mm f/3.5 ELMAR (1937)

Ahh see it was Rick who bought that one..........yes a really fine specimen of the *very rare* Non-Stamped/Non marked IIIC Kness ~ yeah I photograph a camera with the Hektor on it purly for laughs, it's a really great prop, with that FIKUS hood and the VIOOH on top, looks like something from a Sci-Fi movie!
Like to see work shot with that camera soon......it was delivered with a f3.5/50 Elmar I believe according to the infos back from the Leica factory........too bad the original lens was long gone before I got the camera.
Funny but real 1945 issue Elmar 50's seem to me hard to find right now? - I'm still looking for one for one of my 45' K's.

I love the Summicron "barndoor" hood!

I always thought those were goofy. But I bet it works well!
it does work well, doesn't really get in the way of shooting, just another example of the type of over engineered accessory that makes me love shooting Leica
