Issa, I've never seen that shade of yours before, not even an image in a book. Can you make a sharp picture of it? It looks wonderful.

It's black painted, Enamel finish. I also inquired the originality, the shop replied to me that it's surely 100% original Leitz made Fison, early model without engraving. It's a repute shop, so it's trustworthy.
The hood looks like handmade as its imbalance finishing, its material is thick brass, clamp on design without screw to fix. If it's the early version, it should be around 1927-30?

Thank you, Issa! Does it have the rectangular cut-out? The books say the earliest Fisons have a rectangular cut-out, after focusing you had to re-align the hood with an engraved line on it.

No, it doesn't. I think this is after that version. I also saw some unengraved fison without the rectangular cutout. probably from 1927-28, because i found 1929 hood has engraving already. And unengraved fison cost more than the later one.

Thank you, Issa, for the research. Very interesting. So yours is equal to the first of the last three Fison-images? It is difficult to see on the pictures.
The one with the cut-out is longer than the others. Maybe there is also a version as long as that one, but without the cut-out. Would be a logic variant.
These very early shades are very rare.

Hello, new on this forum. I have a Leica III #236221 (1937) from my father. I shot with it back in the 60s and 70s, I don't think any of that stuff has survived.
I got it cleaned, bought a leica meter off eBay and I'm taking it to Dexter's to get lessons and an evaluation.
I just put a roll of Ilford 100 in it and I'm trying to remember how to shoot. before I did it pretty much meter less. I do have Morgan and Lester's Leica Manual 10th Ed.

Below is one IIIG, one IIIf RD, two IIIf BD (one a factory upgrade), three IIIc, One CV R, One M6 TTL. Three collapsible Summicrons f/2.0, 35mm CV f/2.5, 1 Canon f/3.5 135mm, three Russian LTM lenses (now on Russian LTMs, not normally on the Leicas. I lean to CVs for fillout.)
All are used regularly, albeit not as much as I'd like. The IIIG is LN, in the first 25 serial #, little if any use, assume store camera. All work well, have recent CLAs (by very good Youxin Ye) where needed, shutters replaced on a couple. I'd have to look at the serials, but two of the IIIcs are immediate post war, but good chrome. None are beaten up.

There are a lot of beautiful cameras here, but that's a helluva job on your IIIc, and nicely done product art. I've had the leatherette replaced on the IIIf RD by Youxin Ye (he had the camera for CLA and his price is very reasonable).
The color you chose is very close to the factory red on the Special Edition CM. The black is more discreet, but for a knockout camera, it's a knockout color.

1940 IIIc red curtain just returned from Youxin, vulcanite was crumbling so I put on Griptac from cameraleather.com. Such a smooth and quiet shutter. This will be my regular b&w shooter.

1939 IIIb with period rapid-winder SCNOO, both in fabulous working condition. Attached is a Red-Scale Elmar and external 50mm VF SBOOI, both post-war. The latter fits only partially in the accessory shoe, which I believe is a known problem (changes to the Leica shoe standard): anyone know more?
