Not to get too far off topic , but do most of you use a tr-pod or mono-pod to get those great shots?

Not for mine Red Robin. The Leica (for film) or A7S (for digital) that I use is meant to be hand-held as far as I'm concerned. I must confess however that some of my A7S shots are done using a studio flash that I have mounted above my workstation for quick "product shots".

Parallel-mount means that the lenshead does not turn when focusing, like the Summar. This was needed for the early Agfacolor system that worked with filters.

Finally came back to the Barnack fold after a few years of hiatus. First time IIIg, first time Leicavit. I don't have a native LTM lens at the moment, but it turned out my Summaron 35/2.8 had convertible base. 🙂 I wish I had bought that SBLOO in classifieds not so long ago. I guess I can guesstimate the frame using the entire VF assuming wee bit more will be in the frame.

I'm meeting with Roland tomorrow to pick up his Elmar 50/2.8 LTM which will be the standard lens for this setup, and got a Contax adapter on its way so I'll be able to play with my Sonnar 50/2 from my Contax IIa which waiting in long long queue for overhaul.

My Summaron is also LTM and balances perfectly on a (prewar) Barnack. I usually insist on Leitz accessories, but don't like the rectangular profile of SBLOO. I selected the modern C/V external 35mm VF: circular profile, crystal-clear image, great brightlines.

Wise advice. I'm sure SBLOO will look fantastic seeing through it, but it sure looks bulky in use. I'll probably pick up a silver CV VF when one pops up for sale in Classifieds next time. For now, Summaron will mainly live on my M4-P (but with the set-screw out so I can easily move it to IIIg), and IIIg will sport the 50/2.8. 🙂

I actually have both view finders, and mainly use the 35mm lens on my IIIF and IIIG. I did not want to keep transposing them from one camera to another, and the Leica SBLOO does sit a fraction lower. Both great viewfinders, with my SBLOO being the second version model made.

New to me IIIa that I just got in a trade.

Good to be back to a smaller Barnack after giving a III away and foolishly selling II with retrofitted strap lugs a few years ago. I have no intention of selling this one. (famous last words) Decided to go with IIIa to have 1/1000 shutter speed in II/III sized body.

It came with a 3rd party cone shaped shutter release collar. Probably it's practical but replaced it with a stock one. Did some external cleaning and ready for a test roll. This will be my 28/35mm cam. Will probably re-recover it in Aki-Asahi leatherette and fill a few engraving. Just gotta find that filler paint/wax thing I have somewhere in my apartment.

It was a quick snap in my room, but I used E-M5II's 40 mp output mode on tripod. Although it is a small resampled image posted here, surprisingly it did come out with a nice resolution and tonality. 🙂
