unfortunately not haha. That trip I took my M3 with a 50DR and V1 28 Elmarit, Rollei and a Yashica T4. Still a small kit but exactly what I needed. From now on though the IIIg will have a place in my bag. I'm lucky to have exactly what I want and don't have anything that doesn't get used regularly.

Just picked this up earlier today. I'm confused about the lens. The serial number shows it to be a 1939 vintage but its coated, has modern f stops and has the distance scale in feet rather than meters. And I count 9 aperture blades! Any ideas?

Just picked this up earlier today. I'm confused about the lens. The serial number shows it to be a 1939 vintage but its coated, has modern f stops and has the distance scale in feet rather than meters. And I count 9 aperture blades! Any ideas?
I would have to guess possibly someone had a custom job done on that lens. Leitz did so much upgrading over that period of time I guess it is also entirely possible someone could have returned the lens in the 50's and had the coating installed and the aperture ring updated. The distance indicator could have always been feet.

Like Rik (Mr Flibble) and johannielscom, I love Leica II's in particular the early Black & Nickel cameras from the first batch known as the "Lavatory Seat" models,called this name, because of the sunken large speed dials.They also have a yellow "Orako" type filter fitted in the rangefinder window to give some contrast to the rangefinder to aid focusing.
Early Leica Nickel lenses scaled in Feet are fairly rare, as most of the early nickel lenses, seem to have mainly been scaled in Metres.

This is a nice early (1930's) morocco leather Leitz case with zipper fastening to take a Leica II with collapsed lens.It is stamped "LEICA" in the leather and the Leitz code word for it is "ERDOO" . It is in perfect condition,takes the Leica II and lens perfectly and only cost me £20.

I don't aim to particularly to collect Leica II cameras. I do tend to find I buy them if the price is right

Alan Starkie of Starkie Cameraworks. Costs a pretty penny, but he does great work.
It's originally a red curtain stepper IIIc from 1940, converted to a IIIc-sync in the 1950s.
Friend of mine bought it a few years back and disassembled it to replace the curtains, but got stuck at some point. I traded the bits with him for a IIf I had restored.
Initially I had planned to rebuild it myself, but thought better of it and contacted Alan. He painted it luftwaffe grey, installed new red curtain material and reassembled the camera in record time.
I would've kept the chrome finish if the flash-sync upgrade hadn't been done.
Others have asked me about the pack of 20 unfiltered Lucky's and if I had more.....unfortunately it's just a movie prop from the movie 'Black Book'

Ride, dive, shoot.
IF BD has been my favorite Barnack. Just received the Super-Angulon 21/4, which will be shared between IF and the M bodies. I have a feeling that it's more like SA and CV 28/3.5 fighting for their spot on IF, ignoring the Ms though.
(still waiting for 21/25mm VF coming tomorrow. 28mm one shown in picture just for the looks.)
