Show Off Your Nikon RF

They're about the same. I had them both sent to essex for cleaning and to be overhauled, but before I sent them to essex, the S3 was slightly clearer. I think the RF on the S2 was just dirty. Both are pretty sharp now, no de-silvering of the mirrors. :)
Thanks for the information!

I inherited this equipment from my grandfather. It is a very good set. I have the exposure meter and booster, cable release, film cassette, model BC IV pocket flash unit, various filters, boxes for everything, leather cases, user manual, inspection tags, and other odds and ends. My grandfather did not go any further stating he did not need it. The lever was fast enough for him so he never bought the motordrive. Never needed anything beyond 135mm so I don't have any of the big long lenses.

The camera was bought in 1958. When my great grand parents went to Japan he had them buy the camera equipment. It was his favorite camera. No body could touch it. He used it right up to about 1982 (I found a roll of film with the date on it in the body). We found everything in a bowling ball bag. The 50mm f/1.1 has been to the factory once in 1969 for repair.

The SP (with 85mm f/1.5) was my main camera for most of 1994 until I bought a black motordriven F. I used the SP for special assignments when natural light and stealth were important. My favorite picture was taken with the SP.

New toy and sibling from same parents

New toy and sibling from same parents

Since two days my new Nikon S2 BD and one of my Contax IIa. Fit good together, will share wide angle lenses. First film in the Nikon, apparently curious and inquisitive about that Voigtländer 1.5/50 Nokton. A Nikkor 2.5/105 for the S2 is on it's way ...

Another reason is that the S-Sonnar 50f1.5 is such a nice lens. Probably my favorite for using with the Nikon's - and also with the M's as a "regular" 50. Great tonality with black and white - and more comfortable "in the hand" than the regular 50f1.4 and much more comfortable than the "coke bottle" shape of the Millennium 50f1.4.

oh well, after shooting the sonnar on M ive been thinking on getting it for Nikon, but since already having the Millenium 50 ive been a little to and from.. but one thing that ive found intresting is the ergonomics...

because the coke bottle shape is a little odd.. but perfectly usable..

but now it seems my GAS has a final reason for getting the Sonnar..

oh well..

life is hard sometimes..:D

My Nikon Gear

My Nikon Gear

Here is my Nikon Gear that I have collected over the last year and a half. My S3-2000 has to sent to Pete. The shutter is having some issues.

Nikon SP Original Black Paint
Nikon S3-2000
Nikon 2.8cm f3.5
Nikon 3.5cm f2.5
Nikon Millenium 50mm f1.4
Helios 103 f1.8 (converted to Nikon S mount)
Nikon 10.5cm f2.5

Nikon truely made some amazing looking rangefinders. They arent closet queens either. I use them!

My Nikon S2 BD with attached Zeiss Biogon 1:4.5 f=21 mm and matching finder. First two test rolls finished ... now I am nosey. The late type half case looks quite massive, but protects the body well.

Best wishes,
Walter
